Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville seeks a Vice President of Administration and Finance to serve both as a key member of the institution's senior leadership team and a strategic and action-oriented member of the President's Cabinet. Reporting directly to the President, the successful candidate will serve as a strategic advisor on financial, administrative, operational, and organizational matters; providing effective leadership that aids in ensuring the effective stewardship of the College's resources and the long-term fiscal and operational sustainability of the institution.
The Vice President will be responsible for the College's fiscal and operational strategic priorities and day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, financial forecasting and reporting, resource allocation, compliance, and general institutional financial planning. The Vice President will work closely with the President, Cabinet, shared governance bodies, and campus constituencies to align financial and administrative resources with the College's strategic priorities and commitment to student success.
The portfolio of oversight includes the Business Office (Purchasing, Accounting & Accounts Payable), Human Resources, Facilities and Maintenance, Planning, Design and Construction, Technology Services, as well as serving as the liaison to the SUNY Research Foundation in terms of the Campus' research activities. The Vice President also works collaboratively with the Morrisville College Foundation and Morrisville Auxiliary Corporation, all while serving as a key institutional liaison with SUNY System Administration, other campuses, and external State/Local/Federal agencies and partners.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Serve as a key member of the President's Cabinet while providing strategic financial and administrative advice to the President, senior leadership team, and the campus at large.
Collaborate with the President, Cabinet, faculty, staff, and other campus constituencies to develop, refine, and advance the institution's strategic goals and priorities with fiscal stability as a fundamental pillar.
Direct, and participate in the development, presentation, monitoring, and adjustment of the College's operating and capital budgets, including long-term financial planning, forecasting, resource allocation, and analysis of institutional financial trends. Ensure alignment of capital budgets with strategic direction of the campus. Develop a comprehensive method to balance capital deployment with respect to front facing projects and critical maintenance related to infrastructure.
Provide clear, timely, and accessible financial and operational information and analysis to the President, Cabinet, governance bodies, and other stakeholders to support informed institutional decision-making and convey the fiscal position/performance of the campus.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders to acquire information and appropriate legal guidance, especially as it relates to funding and completing capital projects. Outside groups include SUNY System Administration; the State University Construction Fund (SUCF); Dormitory Authority of New York (DASNY); the State University Business Officers Association (SUBOA); State, Local, and / or Federal government officials; and various professional organizations.
Ensure compliance with applicable SUNY System Administration, Office of the State Comptroller, State, Local, Federal, and other regulatory requirements, as well as internal controls, audit recommendations, and institutional policies.
Maintain clear and consistent communication on behalf of the Business Office, ensuring that appropriate departments are made aware of campus needs, and the campus is informed about relevant activities within the division.
Oversee and provide strategic leadership for Human Resources, including employee relations, recruitment and retention, compensation and classification, benefits, professional development, labor relations, personnel policies and procedures, compliance, and initiatives that support a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.
Provide leadership and strategic oversight for Facilities and Maintenance, Planning, Design and Construction, including capital planning, campus infrastructure, facilities operations, major projects, and the effective stewardship of College facilities and physical resources.
Provide strategic oversight of capital projects, deferred maintenance, infrastructure planning, facilities operations, and related funding strategies, working closely with SUNY, SUCF, DASNY, contractors, consultants, and other partners to advance projects and ensure responsible stewardship of the College's physical assets.
Provide strategic oversight of Technology Services and ensure that technology resources and investments effectively support teaching, learning, student services, administrative operations, institutional effectiveness, and long-term strategic priorities.
Work collaboratively with campus leaders to assess technology needs, prioritize investments, and promote secure, sustainable, effective, and cost-conscious technology operations.
Serve on the board of the Morrisville Auxiliary Corporation (MAC) as a voting member and on the Morrisville College Foundation board as a non-voting member. Oversee and participate on relevant committees including the Senate Budget Committee.
Support effective relationships with the Morrisville College Foundation, Research Foundation, and other affiliated organizations and provide financial, administrative, and strategic expertise as appropriate. Identify opportunities to strengthen external partnerships, grants, auxiliary operations, fundraising, and other resources that support institutional priorities.
Work collaboratively with business and industry partners, government officials, alumni, donors, community organizations, and other external stakeholders to advance the College's mission and identify opportunities for institutional and financial growth.
Research, align, and implement improvements to the College's historical approach to allocating funding and personnel; work with other SUNY institutions to identify potential shared services and increased efficiencies; constantly seeking opportunities to improve efficiency and effect cost reductions.
Oversee appropriate risk management, insurance, contracts, audits, internal controls, and other institutional processes designed to protect College resources and mitigate financial and operational risk.
Participate in and support shared governance and collaborative decision-making. Serve on appropriate College committees, including the Senate Budget Committee and other committees as assigned.
Work collaboratively with campus leadership and employee representatives to foster positive labor relations and a work environment characterized by respect, accountability, communication, professional growth, and shared commitment to student success.
Maintain a visible presence on campus and participate in College events and activities, demonstrating engagement with students, faculty, staff, and the broader campus community.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the President.

Ability to understand and evaluate financial information from multiple sources that all come with various rules and regulations, codifying this understanding into sound strategic financial forecasting and recommendations to attain, and then maintain, the financial stability of the institution.
Ability to understand, interpret and explain complex budget information to a wide audience, with a commitment to transparency in the sharing of information.
Ability to exercise sound judgement and to include others in decision-making processes, as warranted.
Experience with capital planning, prioritization of funding request for implementation that aligns with the campus master plan.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in business administration, finance, accounting, public administration, higher education administration, human resources, or a related field. Progressively responsible experience in the areas of business, accounting or financial management may serve as an alternative and is highly desired.
Significant progressively responsible experience (5 years+) in financial management, business administration, higher education administration, or a related field, including responsibility for budgeting, financial planning, resource allocation, and administrative operations.
Demonstrated experience serving in a senior-level leadership role with responsibility for strategic planning, institutional decision-making, organizational management, and collaborative problem-solving.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex organizational functions and work effectively with multiple stakeholders in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Business Administration (MBA) or comparable advanced degree.
Significant leadership experience in higher education or another complex, multi-functional organization.
Experience providing executive oversight for multiple administrative functions, including finance, human resources, facilities, technology, and/or operations.
Experience with capital planning, facilities development, deferred maintenance, and major capital projects.
Experience working within the SUNY system or another public higher education system.
Experience working in a unionized environment and with collective bargaining agreements.
Experience working with foundations, auxiliaries, affiliated organizations, grants, or other external funding sources.
Demonstrated experience developing strategies for financial sustainability, revenue diversification, operational efficiency, and resource development.
Experience leading complex organizational change and building effective partnerships across institutional and external stakeholders.
