Job Description
THE POSITION
Manufacturing Quality Engineer
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Quality Engineer to join our Quality team at our Halstead manufacturing facility. This position plays an important role in supporting and improving the quality of our manufacturing processes and products through data analysis, structured problem-solving, process improvement, and quality management system.
As a Quality Engineer, you will work closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to identify quality issues, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence. You will have the opportunity to work directly with manufacturing processes and engineered rubber products while contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
You will also support compliance with our Quality Management System and applicable customer requirements while helping drive improvements in product quality, process capability, efficiency, and reliability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and analyze manufacturing and quality data to identify trends, defects, and opportunities for improvement.
Investigate internal and customer quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.
Lead or participate in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
Develop, implement, and monitor corrective action plans to ensure effectiveness.
Support process capability studies, statistical process control (SPC), and other quality engineering activities.
Develop and maintain quality documentation, procedures, work instructions, inspection standards, and control plans.
Collaborate with Production and Engineering to establish and improve process controls and quality standards.
Support new product introductions, process changes, and product/process validation activities.
Conduct process and product audits and assist with internal and external quality audits.
Evaluate nonconforming materials and products and support appropriate disposition decisions.
Work with suppliers and internal departments to resolve material and component quality issues.
Utilize quality tools and data analysis to identify opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, defects, and customer complaints.
Support customer complaint investigations and development of appropriate responses and corrective actions.
Assist with maintaining compliance with applicable ISO 9001 requirements and company Quality Management System procedures.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on process capability, efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
Provide technical support and quality training to employees as needed.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to quality activities.
Support additional quality projects and initiatives as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or another related technical discipline, with 3+ years of relevant quality/manufacturing experience preferred.
Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience with customer and supplier quality management.
Experience with statistical analysis and quality reporting software.
Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, procedures, and quality standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
Demonstrated ability to use continuous improvement methodologies to achieve measurable results, such as scrap reduction, improved process efficiency, or defect reduction.
Working knowledge of Quality Core Tools, including APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams.
Experience with structured problem-solving methods such as 8D and 5 Whys.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyze data and generate reports.
Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred.
Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
Qualifications

Experience in rubber, polymer, chemical, textile, or other process manufacturing environments.
Hands-on experience working within a production or plant environment.
Experience supporting quality systems, inspections, and process improvements.
Experience with manufacturing process capability, variation reduction, and defect identification.
Experience working with Quality Core Tools including APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams.
Experience leading or supporting Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, or other continuous improvement initiatives with measurable results.
Experience working with cross-functional teams including Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain.
Experience supporting customer and supplier quality activities.
Familiarity with industrial rubber products, engineered materials, or manufacturing processes.
