We are looking for a Business Development Specialist to support growth initiatives for a logistics and freight forwarding operation in Riverside, California. This Contract to Permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who can generate new business, strengthen client partnerships, and align customer needs with effective transportation solutions. The role combines business development, relationship management, and cross-functional coordination to help expand market presence and deliver long-term value to clients. This will be a direct hire opportunity .

Responsibilities:

Build and carry out targeted outreach strategies to uncover new freight forwarding and logistics opportunities in the market.

Maintain a healthy sales pipeline by qualifying prospects, tracking progress, and advancing opportunities through each stage of the cycle.

Engage prospective customers through calls, referrals, networking events, and digital channels to create new business conversations.

Assess customer shipping requirements, operational pain points, and business goals in order to recommend tailored logistics services.

Partner with internal teams such as operations, pricing, and product support to shape client-specific solutions and service proposals.

Prepare and deliver quotes, presentations, and commercial recommendations for both prospective and existing accounts.

Lead opportunities from initial contact through negotiation, agreement, and onboarding to ensure a successful launch of new business.

Develop strong relationships with clients and decision-makers to encourage retention, account growth, and long-term partnership value.

Track sales performance, customer activity, and opportunity details accurately while working toward revenue and profitability targets.

Represent the organization effectively in client meetings, industry gatherings, and business networking settings to strengthen market visibility.

Requirements - At least 3 years of experience in business development, sales, or account growth within logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, or distribution environments.

Working knowledge of logistics operations, shipping processes, and coordination across domestic or international supply chain activities.

Familiarity with customs procedures and transportation documentation is strongly preferred.

Proven ability to identify prospects, build relationships, and convert leads into active customer accounts.

Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain service solutions clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.

Ability to manage multiple opportunities at once while maintaining accurate records and meeting performance expectations.

Comfortable collaborating across departments to support pricing, service design, implementation, and customer success. TalentMatch®
