The Department of Business and Economics at York College/CUNY invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Information Systems and Business anticipated to begin Fall 2027.
York College is located in Queens, one of the five boroughs of New York City and one of the most ethnically diverse counties in the nation. It is a senior college within The City University of New York and is situated on a 50-acre campus in the heart of the Downtown Jamaica section of the borough.
The Department of Business and Economics seeks a dynamic scholar and educator with expertise in Information Systems and the ability to contribute broadly to the Department's undergraduate business curriculum. The successful candidate will teach courses in Information Systems and related technology-focused business disciplines, as well as contribute to other business and economics offerings based on departmental needs.
Teaching assignments may include courses in Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, AI, Business Analytics, Digital Transformation, Enterprise Systems, Business Technology, and other subject areas in the department such as International Business, Management, Operations Management depending on the candidate's expertise and departmental requirements.
Teaching assignments may include day, evening, and weekend courses.
The successful candidate will:
Demonstrate effectiveness in teaching Information Systems and other assigned courses.
Develop and deliver courses that integrate current technologies, industry practices, analytical approaches, and emerging trends in business.
Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Department.
Mentor and advise students pursuing careers in business, information systems, analytics, cybersecurity, AI, and related fields.
Support experiential learning opportunities, including internships, applied projects, industry partnerships, and student organizations.
Engage in scholarly research and professional activities consistent with the expectations of a tenure-track faculty appointment.
Contribute to department, college, and university service activities.
Collaborate with colleagues across business disciplines to enhance program quality and relevance.
Maintain relationships with business organizations, professional associations, industry partners, and community stakeholders.
Perform other responsibilities assigned by the Department Chair.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must possess:
A PhD or other relevant doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business Analytics, or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment (Fall 2027).
Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in Information Systems and/or related disciplines.
Ability to teach undergraduate courses in Information Systems and contribute to additional courses aligned with departmental needs.
Evidence of scholarly potential through research, publications, conference presentations, working papers, or other scholarly activities.
Commitment to student success through effective teaching, advising, mentoring, and support of diverse student populations.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
Preferred Requirements
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate:
Expertise in Information Systems, including areas such as:
Business analytics.
Artificial intelligence
Digital transformation.
Database systems.
Systems analysis and design.
Cybersecurity.
Enterprise systems.
Cloud computing.
Information technology management.
Ability to teach courses across multiple business disciplines, including one or more of the following:
Entrepreneurship and innovation.
International Business.
Management.
Marketing.
Operations Management.
Business Strategy.
Economics.
Quantitative methods for business.
A strong research agenda with potential for continued scholarly contributions.
Experience incorporating technology, analytics, applied projects, case studies, and experiential learning into instruction.
Experience supporting students from diverse backgrounds and preparing them for careers in business and technology.
Professional experience or industry engagement relevant to Information Systems or business disciplines.
Experience developing or revising curriculum to address changing workforce and industry needs.
Evidence of professional recognition through publications, grants, industry partnerships, leadership roles, or service contributions.
COMPENSATION
$82,384 - $98,231 - Salary commensurate with education and experience.
