The Massachusetts Department of Public Health at Tewksbury Hospital is seeking aSecurity Operations Coordinatorto help lead security technology and emergency communications operations. The Security Operations Coordinator will oversee the Dispatch Center and its personnel while serving as a key resource for physical security systems, emergency communications, access control, surveillance, radio systems, emergency telephones, and related infrastructure. The position will play an essential role in maintaining reliable emergency communications, coordinating technology projects and system upgrades, supporting regulatory compliance, managing operational resources, and strengthening continuity of operations during emergencies and major incidents. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Coordinate and oversee physical security, emergency communication, dispatch, and related security technology systems throughout the facility. Supervise, evaluate, train, and support Communications Dispatcher personnel while ensuring effective emergency dispatch, radio, switchboard, customer service, and notification operations. Manage daily Dispatch Center operations, including staffing, service continuity, incident documentation, dispatch logs, and operational reporting. Develop, maintain, and implement dispatch policies, procedures, emergency notification lists, directories, and process improvements in collaboration with leadership. Provide technical support and coordinate the maintenance, testing, repair, replacement, and modernization of security and emergency management equipment and systems. Serve as the primary liaison with Information Technology staff, contractors, and vendors; coordinate service contracts, technical projects, repairs, and vendor responses. Ensure security and dispatch systems undergo required inspections, audits, testing, licensing, and regulatory documentation to support reliable and compliant operations. Monitor departmental expenditures and assist with operating budgets, purchasing activities, staffing reports, operational reports, and other administrative requirements. Collaborate with Safety, Security, Emergency Management, and facility committees on security, emergency preparedness, continuity of operations, infrastructure planning, and operational improvement initiatives. Respond to critical system failures, emergencies, disasters, and major incidents while supporting incident management, emergency dispatch, emergency operations center coordination, and continuity of essential security and dispatch services. Required Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading, writing, comprehension, and the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Ability to understand, interpret, apply, and explain laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and established guidelines. Ability to provide and follow clear, precise, and understandable written and oral instructions. Ability to gather, evaluate, and organize information through interviews, record reviews, document examination, and established procedures. Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare clear, complete, and organized documentation and reports. Demonstrated supervisory skills, including planning and assigning work, evaluating performance, arranging training, motivating staff, and addressing performance or disciplinary matters. Ability to exercise sound judgment, resolve operational issues, and coordinate the efforts of multiple individuals to achieve established objectives. Ability to understand and apply procedures for agency telephone communications, forms, radio communications, terminology, coding symbols, and standard abbreviations. _Preferred Qualifications:_ Experience managing or coordinating hospital, healthcare, public safety, security, emergency management, or mission-critical operations. Experience supervising dispatch, communications, security, emergency management, or other operational personnel. Experience administering or supporting physical security technologies, including access control, video surveillance, emergency telephones, radios, or alarm systems. Experience managing a Dispatch Center, emergency communications center, security operations center, or similar 24/7 operational environment. Experience coordinating technology projects involving security systems, communications infrastructure, software platforms, or facility-wide technology upgrades. Experience working with information technology teams, outside vendors, contractors, and service providers to resolve technical and operational issues. Knowledge of emergency management principles, incident management, continuity of operations, and emergency operations center coordination. Experience developing or improving policies, procedures, training programs, operational processes, and emergency communication protocols. Experience monitoring operating budgets, expenditures, purchasing activities, service contracts, or technology-related procurement. Familiarity with regulatory compliance, system inspections and testing, FCC licensing requirements, documentation standards, and best practices related to security and emergency communications.
