Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Substitute teachers and paraprofessionals provide support to students and school staff in an educational

setting. Duties may include supervising students, assisting with classroom activities and assignments,

supporting individual student needs, maintaining a safe and positive learning environment, following

lesson plans and directions provided by teachers or school administrators, assisting with classroom management, monitoring student behavior, and helping students with academic and daily classroom tasks. Paraprofessionals may also provide one-on-one or small-group assistance to students, including students who require additional educational or behavioral support. Substitutes are expected to communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel and to follow all school policies and procedures. Skills and Qualifications: Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with children and adolescents Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude Ability to maintain classroom order and student safety Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic computer and technology skills Dependability, professionalism, and good judgment Ability to maintain student confidentiality Ability to adapt to different classrooms, grade levels, and student needs Experience working with children, education, childcare, or individuals with special needs is preferred but may not be required, depending on the position. Days and Hours of Work: Work schedules may vary depending on school needs and available assignments. Substitutes and paraprofessionals generally work during regular school hours, Monday through Friday, with schedules determined by the school or school district. Substitutes may accept assignments on an as-needed or day-to-day basis, while paraprofessionals may have a regular part-time or full-time schedule. Other Requirements and Information: Employment may be contingent upon meeting school district requirements, which may include background checks, fingerprinting, required training, reference checks, and verification of education or qualifications. Employees must comply with school safety procedures, student supervision requirements, confidentiality policies, and applicable school district regulations. The position requires regular interaction with students and staff and may require the employee to stand, walk, bend, or assist students.throughout the school day.
