DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position leads the fire protection, crash rescue, and fire prevention program at Fort Indiantown Gap by overseeing all station operations and staff activities. The role supports safety, readiness, and strong coordination during emergencies. As an Installation Fire Chief, DMVA, you will perform the following duties:
Station Management:Plan and organize fire station operations and oversee staff activities
Policy Development:Establish and review procedures, goals, and mission objectives to improve performance
Emergency Leadership:Direct personnel and actions during fires, crashes, and urgent situations
Training Oversight:Develop training programs and ensure firefighters meet certification requirements
Equipment Decision Making:Determine proper equipment use, select resources, and recommend new purchases
Supervisory Duties:Complete performance reviews, approve leave, manage staffing, and guide employee development

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years as an Installation Firefighter Supervisor, DMVA (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
Six years of firefighting experience as a member of a municipal or governmental fire department that includes two years in a supervisory capacity and possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Special Requirements:
This position requires Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, Airport Firefighter, Hazardous Materials Operations, Hazardous Materials Awareness, and Hazardous Materials Incident Commander certifications issued by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Professional Qualifications System (NPQS).
This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
You must initially and annually meet the physical fitness and agility standards of Department of Defense Manual 6055.05, Occupational Medical Examinations: Medical Surveillance and Medical Qualification.
You must obtain within one year of hire and maintain over the course of employment a valid Class B Pennsylvania commercial driver's license.
You must obtain within one year of hire and maintain over the course of employment valid Driver/Operator Pumper, Driver/Operator Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF), Driver/Operator Mobile Water Supply, and Driver/Operator Aerial certifications from an organization accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or National Professional Qualifications System (NPQS).
Additional Requirements:
You must pass a background check to obtain and maintain access to federal computer networks.
You must be willing and able to work in Annville, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
You must meet the physical fitness and agility standards of Department of Defense Manual 6055.05, Occupational Medical Examinations: Medical Surveillance and Medical Qualification annually.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
