Lead Assistant Academic Fieldwork Coordinator - Hybrid MSOT (13 Load Units)

The Lead Assistant Academic FW Coordinator (AFWC) for the Hybrid MSOT Program is an 11-month full-time Assistant Professor of Practice faculty member with 13 units of release time for fieldwork (FW) duties. Reporting to the Department Chair and working in close collaboration with the AFWC, this position oversees daily coordination of hybrid FW coordination in compliance with ACOTE C.1.0. standards. The Lead Assistant AFWC fulfills responsibilities in teaching, advising, scholarship, professional accomplishment, and service.

Essential Functions

Oversee all Level I and Level II FW placements for the Hybrid MSOT Program in compliance with ACOTE C.1.0. standards

Coordinate Level I physical rehabilitation and all Level II FW placements for the Hybrid MSOT Program in collaboration with the AFWC

Recruit, evaluate, develop, and retain new FW sites, with emphasis on geographic expansion that support and integrate the program's mission, philosophy, and curriculum design and allow opportunities for application of concepts learned in the classroom

Assist AFWC with ACOTE documentation of C.1.0. standards, assessment, and program evaluation

Ensure that student FW attendance hours meet or exceed the Program's requirements

Collaborate with supervising faculty regarding students and FW educators at a minimum of the midpoint and end of FW, ensuring progression towards entry-level competence

Coordinate student placement timelines and assignment processes to allow completion of graduation requirements and meet program needs and confirm the assignment in writing to both student and FW educator

Collaborate with AFWC and assistant AFWC for the Hybrid MSOT Program to ensure regular, individualized contact with students to support a collaborative FW planning experience and address emerging needs or concerns. Ensure a member from the FW team meets with each student at least once per semester

Maintain communication with assigned students and FW educators at a minimum of the midpoint and end of FW, ensuring progression towards FW requirements

Oversee and periodically review documentation related to hybrid FW placements, contracts, and compliance prior to students beginning FW in collaboration with the Administrative Compliance Coordinator

Collaborate with FW team and program director as needed to manage complex student placement concerns, remediation, withdrawals, and reassignments

Conduct in-person or virtual site visits annually and monitor FW quality through communication with students and FW educators

Educate and advise students regarding FW site selection and assignment process

Collaborate with AFWC to coordinate orientation and preparation activities for hybrid students and FW educators

Develop and maintain relationships with hybrid FW educators and clinical partners in collaboration with the AFWC

Assist FW educators with students who require accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Support FW educators to enhance the supervision of students by regular monitoring of student progress, identifying continuing education opportunities to improve supervision, and by consistent assessment and evaluation of the quality of supervision

Communicate with faculty regarding student readiness for FW and ability for successful FW progression

Collaborate with the Assistant Academic FW Coordinator for Hybrid MSOT on weekly workload

Collaborate with AFWC, assistant FW coordinators, and program director on routine FW program assessment and quality improvement initiatives

Analyze placement capacity and identify future FW needs

Develop resources and procedures to improve hybrid FW operations

Perform other duties as assigned by the AFWC

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Work is primarily performed remotely

Occasionally may be performed at the FW site, requiring travel

No or very limited physical effort required

The estimated base academic year salary for this position is $80,000, commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements:

Hold a Doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE- recognized regional accrediting body

Certification and NYS License as an Occupational Therapist

Preferred three years of clinical experience

Demonstrated area of clinical, academic and/or administrative expertise

Computer and technology skills sufficient for administrative tasks (Exxat, videoconferencing), and the capacity for the expanding role of technology in the various modalities of education and FW coordination

Effective interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with individuals across a variety of disciplines/departments
