THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Global Head of Market Access is the senior enterprise leader responsible for creating and leading a world-class Market Access Center of Excellence that serves as a growth engine for the Abbott Point-of-Care business. The role is accountable for shaping standards of care, influencing clinical pathways, generating economic evidence, securing reimbursement, enabling guideline adoption, and accelerating commercial adoption of both existing and future diagnostic innovations. The position leads a globally integrated function spanning Policy & Advocacy, Payer and Reimbursement Strategy, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), and Clinical Marketing.
The role is responsible for ensuring that market access is embedded across the product lifecycle from early development through launch and lifecycle optimization, with particular focus on accelerating global growth of high-sensitivity Troponin-I (hs-TnI), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) diagnostics, and future OEM new product introductions. Success is measured by adoption, utilization, reimbursement, and revenue impact.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:
Develop and execute the global market access strategy aligned to OEM growth objectives
Lead Policy & Advocacy, HEOR, Payer & Reimbursement, and Clinical Marketing functions (2-3 direct reports initially)
Shape clinical guidelines, standards of care, reimbursement frameworks, and policy environments
Establish global payer engagement and reimbursement pathway strategies.
Develop pricing and value strategies in partnership with Marketing, including willingness-to-pay assessments, payer value narratives, pricing corridors, and support for Core Value Dossiers (CVDs)
Oversee design and execution of HEOR, real-world evidence, budget impact, and cost-effectiveness programs
Build global value dossiers, HTA submissions, economic models, and value communication materials
Accelerate adoption of hs-TnI and TBI solutions through clinical pathway transformation
Lead access strategy for all future NPIs beginning in product development
Create launch excellence processes and market access readiness requirements
Build relationships with KOLs, clinical societies, HTA bodies, payers, government stakeholders, and advocacy groups
Translate evidence into provider protocols, economic value propositions, and adoption programs
Partner with Commercial, Medical Affairs, R&D, Regulatory, Government Affairs and Marketing leaders
Establish KPIs linked to adoption, utilization, reimbursement, revenue growth, and launch success
Lead a globally aligned and locally executed operating model
Manage budgets, talent development, organizational capability building, and succession planning
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Health Economics, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Pharmacy, Medicine, Business, or related discipline.
Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in diagnostics, medical devices, life sciences, healthcare consulting, payer organizations, or market access.
Minimum 10 years of leadership experience with global responsibilities.
Demonstrated success influencing reimbursement, coverage, coding, clinical guidelines, and policy decisions.
Proven track record leading global product launches and commercialization programs.
Experience developing HEOR evidence strategies and HTA submissions.
Experience working with major health systems, payers, government agencies, and professional societies.
Experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets and international teams.
Executive leadership capability with demonstrated global influence.
Deep expertise in diagnostics, market access, reimbursement, HEOR, health policy, and healthcare systems.
Strong strategic planning, organizational leadership, and change management skills.
Advanced understanding of HTA methodologies, payer decision-making processes, and evidence generation.
Ability to influence executive stakeholders internally and externally.
Strong financial, commercial, and business acumen.
Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Proven ability to build and lead high-performing global teams.
Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MSc, PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent).
Strong understanding of emergency medicine, acute care, cardiovascular diagnostics, critical care, and decentralized testing environments.
Experience working across multiple global regions and healthcare markets.
Professional certifications in Health Economics, Market Access, HTA, Project Management, Regulatory Affairs, Public Health, Medical Affairs, or related disciplines.
Proficiency in one or more additional business languages, including German, French, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, or Portuguese.

The base pay for this position is $149,300.00 - $298,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
