The Employee Engagement and Experience Coordinator is responsible for creating and leading strategic efforts designed to optimize and support the MDH workforce through measurable increases in employee engagement, positive employee experiences, and a culture of wellbeing throughout MDH. This position will work collaboratively within Human Resources Management to coordinate programs, events, and initiatives focused on creating a "great workplace" for MDH employees.
This position enables MDH to clarify and enact its vision, mission, and values and is focused on work that improves the organizational wellbeing and the experience of its people, through gauging the total employee experience, providing solutions that will foster the fullest employee engagement, reaching its highest experiential potential, and providing ongoing continuous improvement for defining accountability and respectful behaviors and attitudes throughout all people and programs. The work of the person in this role will be highly visible and will result in wide-spread impact across the agency, including coordinating policy and programs to improve performance outcomes, and managing facilitation of change.

This is a temporary position with an anticipated end date of 11/30/2027.
In accordance with HR/LR Policy #1422 Telework, this position is eligible for up to 50% telework for applicants who live in Minnesota or in a bordering state within 50 miles of the assigned work location. Candidates residing outside of Minnesota or in a bordering state within 50 miles of the assigned work location at the time of application must be able to relocate to Minnesota within 30 days of their start date. The telework policy may exempt employees who live more than 50 miles from their primary work location from the 50% in-office requirement, depending on job requirements, helping the State of Minnesota access top talent across the state.
Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of experience in a Workforce or Human Resources role(s) with primary responsibility for leading employee engagement initiatives and enhancing the employee experience across an organization, demonstrating expertise in change management, facilitation, and organizational wellbeing strategies. Examples include:
Project management, coordination, and implementation sufficient to manage agency-wide projects resulting in tools and resources for agencies and support for implementation and application.
Facilitating interactive sessions with large and small audiences.
Design and implement surveys and assessment tools sufficient to perform needs assessments, analyze data and present findings to support Workforce program goals.
Planning programming and events, including logistics, budget recommendations, resource coordination, communication planning, and related responsibilities.
A related degree will substitute for experience as follows: Doctorate degree may substitute for two years of experience; master's degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; bachelor's degree may substitute for one year of experience; associate degree may substitute for six months of experience.
Qualifications to be assessed during the interview:
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of organizational analysis and workforce planning, classification, and compensation systems.
Ability to analyze complex organizational and technical challenges and to develop and implement solutions to address identified challenges.
Demonstrated experience analyzing datasets and translating findings into actionable recommendations for leadership or decision-makers.
Experience providing consultation, guidance, or technical assistance to internal clients, division leaders, or cross-functional teams on HR-related matters.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Organizational Development, or another related field.
Experience working within the State of Minnesota's Human Resources Management (HRM) systems, policies, procedures, and enterprise-wide systems.
Experience designing and leading each of the following areas: new employee onboarding, mentorship/employee engagement programs, team building, and facilitation.
Proficiency in applying components of the continuous improvement model including Human-centered design practices.
Certifications in Six Sigma or related Continuous Improvement (CI) work, with proof of certification.
