GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Department of Administration and Information is looking for a dedicated individual with a background inindustrial hygiene or occupational safetyto join our safety in the Human Resources Division.
As aHealth and Safety Inspector, you will conduct inspections and investigations at worksites - identifying hazards, collecting samples, evaluating work environments, and helping employers make lasting improvements. This is your opportunity to use your technical skills in air sampling, noise monitoring, chemical exposure, and ergonomics toprotect workers and promote safer work practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Conduct health and safety inspections and investigations in workplaces to enforce OSHA standards.
Develop and implement sampling plans using industrial hygiene instruments to assess air quality, noise, chemicals, radiation, ergonomics, and other workplace exposures.
Investigate serious accidents, and complaints; document findings with detailed reports, photos, and evidence.
Interview employers, employees, and contractors to evaluate hazard exposure and knowledge of safety requirements.
Evaluate safety and health programs to determine compliance with state and federal standards.
Prepare technical reports, affidavits, and administrative warrants; ensure legal defensibility of all findings and citations.
Research applicable standards and best practices using references such as ANSI, NIOSH, NFPA, and EPA.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to those with experience in Industrial Hygiene
**Agency requires that applicants possess a valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE:
Understanding of industrial hygiene principles, workplace hazards, and inspection procedures across a variety of industries and high-risk environments.
Skilled in using, calibrating, and interpreting results from industrial hygiene instruments and sampling equipment in accordance with professional and laboratory standards.
Knowledge of federal and state OSHA regulations, safety standards, and enforcement practices, including accident investigation techniques.
Proficient in interpreting monitoring data, including statistical analysis, to assess health and safety conditions and ensure compliance with permissible exposure limits.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of preparing technical reports, using standard office and audiovisual equipment, and working in hazardous field conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically with OSHA) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection and Safety Specialist
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically with OSHA) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection and Safety Specialist

None
Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Medical Evaluation and Fit testing are required.
May be required to walk long distances, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods
Potential exposure to various chemicals, noises, thermal exposures, physical hazards, and radiological exposures during inspections.
Applicants will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as respirators, safety eyewear, hard hats, safety shoes, FRCs, hearing protection, etc.
NOTES:
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Former State of Wyoming employees, who are rehired within 31 days from their previous employment, will be required to reimburse the State of Wyoming for all Vacation and Sick leave compensation received upon separation.
