Job Summary
Battelle is currently seeking an Electrical Technician . This position is located in Columbus, OH .
This is a full-time position. The selected candidate will work with a team in a broad range of electrical and electronic equipment development activities. The candidate will apply job skills and applicable certifications, policies, and procedures to complete a variety of tasks. The candidate will take concepts and/or designs and turn them into tangible solutions including performing the construction, assembly, re-building, or modifying, a product or solution with a focus on the design to fabrication process. The candidate may train and guide less experienced staff.
Responsibilities
Fabricating, integrating, and troubleshooting electronic systems as part of an integrated technical team.
Testing and troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems.
Fabricating wire harnesses and cable assemblies from released engineering documentation
Circuit card assembly fabrication and repair, including soldering and adding/removing through-hole and surface mount components.
Interpret and build to:
Wiring diagrams, schematics, and interconnect drawings
Harness build sheets and pinout tables
Work instructions, travelers, and specification callouts
Familiarity with ESD controls, configuration-controlled builds, and disciplined documentation practices
Work independently on assigned builds and escalate issues clearly and early
Conduct tests on equipment, including instrument setup and data collection.
Uses ability as a technical specialist in accordance with applicable policies and procedures to complete moderately complex tasks in creative and effective ways. May participate in or provide input to written and/or oral presentations to clients, suppliers, visitors, and technical representatives to disseminate information. Assists engineers in preparing engineering drawings, schematics, and reports.
Key Qualifications
Associate degree in an electrical technical related field; 3 years of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. For Active-Duty or Prior Military applicants, completion of MOS/rating specific Journeyman-level training (e.g., Navy "C" School) is considered equivalent to an associate degree.
Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain TS clearance with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
Working knowledge of electrical principles and ability to learn.
Physically fit to accomplish required tasks including working from ladders and in confined spaces.
Positive attitude and eagerness to take on technical challenges.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Be coachable and willing to learn processes as they develop.
Be a motivated self-starter who seeks out and identifies ways to support the broader team.
Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
Ability to handle multiple job assignments simultaneously and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
Currently holds or have held a TS Clearance in the last five years.
Hold or be willing to pursue various certifications or continuing educational units, as needed. This includes IPC Certifications such as:
J-STD-001, Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies
IPC/WHMA-A-620, Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies
Experience with soldering, electrical wiring, wire harness fabrication, and circuit card fabrication and troubleshooting.
Experience with AC/DC motor and motor control systems.
Experience with testing and maintenance of electrical systems.
Experience with electrical test equipment and automated data acquisition equipment.
Ability to work within stringent quality assurance program, such as ISO 9001 or AS 9100.
Experience as a qualified Craftsman, Quality Assurance Inspector (QAI), and/or Work Center Supervisor.
Compensation Data
Salary Range: $60,000 - $85,000
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors
