The Configuration Manager provides comprehensive configuration management and technical documentation support to Marine Corps Systems Command acquisition programs. The position supports the management and control of system baselines, engineering documentation, hardware and software configuration items, engineering changes, and technical data throughout the acquisition lifecycle in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy (DoN), and MCSC configuration management policies and procedures.
The Configuration Manager supports configuration control activities for acquisition programs, including participation in configuration review boards, configuration audits, Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) management, technical baseline maintenance, and secure data management. Additionally, the position supports clothing certification analysis and design efforts related to military clothing systems, textiles, and gear development activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Configuration Management Support
Provide continuous Configuration Management (CM) support in accordance with approved Configuration Management Plans and applicable acquisition guidance.
Support development, maintenance, and control of:
o Configuration baselines
o Configuration Management Plan annexes
o Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
o Technical baseline documentation
o Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
o Configuration audit documentation
Draft, review, edit, and coordinate CM documentation and records.
Participate in:
o Configuration Control Boards (CCBs)
o Configuration Review Boards (CRBs)
o Physical and Functional Configuration Audits (PCAs/FCAs)
o Engineering review meetings
Ensure compliance with MCSC configuration management policies and acquisition procedures.
Configuration Item Tracking and Change Management
Identify, track, and manage hardware, software, firmware, and documentation configuration items (CIs) throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
Support implementation and execution of change management and configuration control processes.
Maintain accurate records of approved changes, baselines, and technical configurations.
Coordinate review, approval, implementation, and status tracking of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
Ensure traceability of configuration changes across program documentation, technical baselines, and system records.
Technical Data and Security Management
Manage the receipt, distribution, storage, and security of program technical data and documentation, including classified materials.
Ensure configuration-controlled documents are properly safeguarded and distributed in accordance with security requirements and Configuration Management Plans.
Maintain configuration libraries, repositories, and archives for technical documentation and system upgrades.
Support classified and unclassified configuration management activities associated with system modernization and replacement efforts.
Configuration Management Tools and Systems
Utilize Government-approved configuration management tools and databases including:
o CMPRO (Configuration Management Professional)
o SharePoint
o Program-specific configuration tracking systems
Maintain accurate configuration status accounting and reporting.
Track configuration item history, document revisions, audit status, and change implementation activities.
Generate reports and metrics supporting program configuration management activities.
Configuration Audits and Compliance
Support planning, coordination, execution, and documentation of:
o Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs)
o Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs)
o Baseline verification activities
Validate that system configurations conform to approved requirements, specifications, and technical documentation.
Document audit findings, corrective actions, and closure activities.
Support delivery of CDRL C004: Physical Configuration Audits Report.
Clothing Certification Analysis and Design Support
Clothing and Gear Design Support
Support clothing certification analysis and design efforts for military clothing systems and equipment.
Assist with development and evaluation of functional, durable, and operationally effective clothing and gear components.
Collaborate with engineers, logisticians, and material specialists to identify appropriate:
o Textiles
o Materials
o Fabric technologies
o Design enhancements
Support design reviews and product evaluations to ensure operational suitability and compliance with military requirements.
Clothing Testing and Certification Support
Support testing and validation activities for military clothing and gear systems including:
o Durability testing
o Comfort testing
o Environmental resistance testing
o Safety and compliance evaluations
Analyze clothing systems against military standards, specifications, and certification requirements.
Document testing results, certification data, and compliance findings.
Maintain detailed records of:
o Test events
o Certification status
o Design revisions
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Configuration Management, Textile Engineering, Industrial Technology, Logistics, or related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Active Secret Clearance
Minimum 5 years of experience supporting DoD acquisition, systems engineering, or configuration management activities.
Demonstrated experience with: Configuration Management processes, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Technical documentation control, Configuration audits, Baseline management
Working knowledge of: DoD acquisition lifecycle processes, MCSC configuration management procedures, Technical data management, Military standards and specifications,
Experience using: CMPRO or similar CM tools, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, strong organizational, analytical, and technical writing skills.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Configuration Management certification (e.g., CMPIC, CMII, NDIA CM certification).
Experience supporting Marine Corps Systems Command programs.
Familiarity with: Clothing systems certification processes, Textile technologies and military gear systems, configuration audits and status accounting, systems engineering lifecycle management.
Experience supporting classified acquisition programs.
Knowledge of military clothing and equipment standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work performed in Government offices, engineering facilities, laboratories, and contractor environments.
Position may require occasional travel to support audits, testing events, design reviews, and acquisition meetings.
Work may involve access to classified systems, technical repositories, and secure facilities
