Summary You will serve as a Supervisory Recreation Fee Specialist at Joshua Tree National Park. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of administrative duties that are associated with the management of fee revenue and/or donations collected from the public under the authority of Federal laws and regulations such as the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA). Responsibilities Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: - Manage all aspects of a park-wide recreation fee program and their effect on overall program objectives, priorities, and milestones across multiple distinct fee operations. - Coordinate with the business community to ensure their involvement, cooperation, and develop recommendations to improve the fee and revenue process. - Key member of the national cadre of recreation fee program experts that regularly serve on Service wide task forces to develop program guidelines and make recommendations in changes in laws and regulations relating to rate establishment, etc. - Direct audit program of fee collection, FFS entries, project expenditures, and cost of collection expenditures, deposits, and accountable stock. - Manage a large staff on a park-wide basis involved in revenue and fee operations and associated activities. Directly supervises one GS-07/09/11 Recreation Fee Specialist, 2 GS-08 Supervisory Recreation Fee Technicians, and a GS-05/07 Administrative Assistant. Qualifications All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement - 08/18/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: leading the administration of a recreation fee program; developing and tracking an operational budget associated with a fee collection program; evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of a revenue and fee program; and directing the work of subordinates and contractors. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
