Job Title: Press Operator Job Description
This role involves operating a metal stamping press to manufacture structural connecting components used in wood, steel, masonry, concrete, and composite wood building construction. You will interpret information from work orders and blueprints, set up the press for specific jobs, and ensure that parts are accurately produced, loaded, and packed under the guidance of a supervisor. Approximately 40% of your time will be spent operating and setting up the machine, while the remaining 60% will focus on loading and packing parts.
Responsibilities
Operate a metal stamping press to produce parts according to work orders and blueprints.
Interpret and follow detailed instructions from work orders and engineering blueprints to ensure correct part specifications.
Set up the press for each job, including selecting appropriate tooling and making necessary adjustments.
Load raw materials into the machine and monitor the production process to maintain quality and efficiency.
Pack finished parts accurately and safely, following established procedures and under the guidance of a supervisor.
Use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to verify part dimensions.
Perform basic math calculations to confirm measurements and ensure parts meet required tolerances.
Run high-volume, fast-paced jobs while maintaining attention to detail and consistent output.
Handle sheet metal and fabricated components safely during the production and packing process.
Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production goals and maintain a smooth workflow.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of experience operating a stamping press or CNC machines.
At least 1 year of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
Ability to read a tape measure accurately and perform basic math calculations.
Experience with punch press operations.
Hands-on experience working with sheet metal and fabrication processes.
Proficiency using calipers to measure and verify part dimensions.
Strong ability and desire to run high-volume, fast-paced production jobs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience operating a high-speed punch press is a plus.
Experience working with sheet metal in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, height gauges, and calipers.
Comfort working in a production environment that requires consistent output and attention to detail.

Work Environment
This position is based in a clean, modern manufacturing facility focused on structural metal components. The role is on first shift with multiple openings, working Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with additional hours available on Friday and sometimes Saturday. You will work with metal stamping presses and related fabrication equipment, handling sheet metal and using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, height gauges, and calipers. The environment is high-volume and fast-paced, with an emphasis on safety, accuracy, and teamwork, and requires appropriate industrial work attire suitable for a production floor.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
