Role summary:
The (USA) Principal, UX Designer leads the development and enhancement of user experience strategies by conducting comprehensive research, including user interviews and journey mapping. This role collaborates cross-functionally to translate insights into innovative design solutions that improve interaction and usability across platforms. The position requires expertise in prototyping, usability testing, and stakeholder engagement to drive customer-focused outcomes. The Principal UX Designer also mentors team members, ensures adherence to design standards, and influences business decisions through clear communication and data-driven recommendations, supporting Walmart's commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences.
About the team:
The Real Estate design team enhances the Field Associate Experience within Walmart's Global Design organization by creating tools that support facilities management, store remodels, and new construction. Collaborating with engineering, product, and business partners across Global Realty, the team transforms complex workflows into clear, intuitive experiences. They focus on modernizing tools, integrating AI-driven insights, and shaping Realty operations globally. As a small, collaborative group, the team values strategic leadership and design expertise to influence how Walmart operates in physical spaces, impacting thousands of associates, technicians, contractors, and vendors daily.
What you'll do:
Lead user research initiatives including interviews, surveys, and site visits to gather actionable insights that inform design strategies.
Develop and refine user journeys, storyboards, and interaction designs to enhance overall user experience across platforms.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align UX solutions with business goals and customer needs.
Design and proto@type scalable, user-centered interfaces adhering to native mobile conventions and accessibility standards.
Conduct usability testing and iterate designs based on feedback to optimize product effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
Manage documentation of design specifications, style guides, and pattern libraries to ensure consistency and quality.
What you'll bring:
Extensive experience in user-centered design, including user interviews, surveys, and journey mapping to enhance interaction design and user experience strategies.
Proficiency in prototyping, usability testing, and applying design principles for mobile and web platforms.
Strong skills in stakeholder engagement, communication, and collaboration across cross-functional teams to align design solutions with business goals.
Ability to analyze and synthesize research data, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvements in design processes.
Expertise in creating detailed design documentation, wireframes, and functional specifications adhering to established guidelines.
Proven leadership in mentoring and developing design teams while managing multiple projects effectively.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 5 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area. Option 2: 7 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
