Job Title: Quality Assurance Analyst
Job Description
The Quality Assurance Analyst ensures that products consistently meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance within a GMP and FDA-regulated food manufacturing environment. Working primarily on the night shift, this role performs audits, inspections, testing, and documentation to maintain compliance with GMP, SQF, HACCP, FDA, and state regulations. The analyst supports continuous improvement by collaborating with operations, sanitation, and maintenance teams to uphold robust food safety programs and a strong quality culture.
Responsibilities
Perform routine and non-routine quality assurance and quality control activities on 3rd shift to ensure products meet internal specifications and regulatory requirements.
Conduct inspections and case audits to verify adherence to GMP, SQF, HACCP, FDA, and state regulations, as well as internal quality policies and procedures.
Review and verify Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet established quality standards.
Perform microbiological testing and related laboratory analyses to monitor product and environmental safety.
Support and maintain food safety programs by monitoring critical control points and verifying compliance with HACCP plans.
Conduct mock recalls and self-inspections to assess traceability, documentation accuracy, and overall readiness for regulatory or customer audits.
Review batch records and associated documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with GMP and FDA requirements.
Participate in environmental monitoring activities to assess and document the hygienic conditions of the facility.
Identify, investigate, and document nonconformances, and support root cause analysis to determine underlying issues and prevent recurrence.
Collaborate closely with operations, sanitation, and maintenance teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement in processes and procedures.
Maintain accurate and timely quality documentation, including inspection records, test results, and audit findings.
Support preparation for and participation in internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and follow-up actions as needed.
Contribute to a culture of excellence by promoting food safety awareness, regulatory compliance, and best practices across the facility.
Work as a float resource across different lines, departments, or areas on 3rd shift as needed to support overall quality and production needs.
Remain flexible to support weekend rotations, overtime, and additional hours during audits, food safety events, or other critical quality situations.
Essential Skills
1-5 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, or a related role within a scientific or regulated environment with a degree in the sciences, or 5+ years of experience in quality within a GMP/FDA-regulated facility.
Degree in a scientific discipline such as biology or a related field, or equivalent experience in quality within a GMP/FDA facility.
Hands-on experience with quality assurance and quality control practices in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of GMP requirements and their application in daily operations.
Experience with HACCP programs, including monitoring and verification of critical control points.
Familiarity with SQF or similar food safety and quality management systems.
Understanding of FDA and state regulatory requirements related to food safety and quality.
Experience performing inspections, quality analysis, and quality documentation in a production or laboratory setting.
Ability to conduct batch record review and ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
Experience with environmental monitoring programs in a production or laboratory environment.
Ability to perform or support microbiological testing and interpret results in the @context of food safety.
Strong skills in root cause analysis and problem-solving to address quality issues and nonconformances.
Ability to work 3rd shift (6:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m. availability) with typical hours around 8:00 p.m.-4:30 a.m.
Willingness to participate in a weekend rotation and work overtime when necessary.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing, documentation, and record-keeping.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with operations, sanitation, and maintenance teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with food safety programs and protocols, including HACCP and related documentation.
Experience in biology or related sciences that supports understanding of microbiology and food safety principles.
Familiarity with quality auditing, including case audits, mock recalls, and self-inspections.
Experience working in a lab environment, including handling samples and performing analytical tests.
Knowledge of critical control points and their role in maintaining product safety and quality.
Ability to support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality and food safety.
Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with changing priorities and cross-functional collaboration.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, audits, and documentation requirements on a night shift schedule.
Work Environment
This role operates primarily on 3rd shift with 6:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m. availability and typical working hours around 8:00 p.m.-4:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. The position follows a float model, supporting different areas or lines as needed on night shift. There is a regular weekend rotation, and the role requires flexibility to work overtime and additional hours when necessary, such as during audits or food safety emergencies. The work takes place in a GMP and FDA-regulated food manufacturing facility that emphasizes food safety, quality, and compliance. The environment includes production areas, quality laboratories, and processing spaces where environmental monitoring, inspections, and testing occur. Team members collaborate closely with operations, sanitation, and maintenance groups in a structured, process-driven setting focused on continuous improvement and maintaining a strong quality culture.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $68000.00 - $83000.00/yr.
