Job Description
Teach a variety of data science and statistics courses primarily in an in-person format.
Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs.
Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of data science or statistics.
Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
Contribute to student growth and development including student advising.
Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community.
Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.
Teach courses using an innovative and modern curriculum.
Contribute to the continued improvement of the curriculum in data science and statistics.
Supervise capstone experiences, e.g. student research projects, internships, etc.
Salary Range: $64,963 - $193,146; commensurate with qualifications and experience
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D in Data Science, Statistics, or Biostatistics with an anticipated completion date before August 2027.
Experience teaching an undergraduate data science or statistics course as the primary instructor or as a teaching assistant.
Preferred Qualification
Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.
Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Demonstrated excellence in the teaching of data science or statistics at the undergraduate level as the primary instructor.
Evidence of a commitment to continually improve the data science or statistics curriculum
Ability to make connections with industry partners, recruit students, develop workshops, and promote our disciplines to high school students.
Experience in the applications of data science or statistics.
Proficiency in a variety of programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
Desire to teach Python programming in our upper-division data science courses.
Experience with one or more of the following areas: machine learning, consulting, healthcare analytics, or research in the teaching and learning of data science or statistics.
Evidence of strong communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with colleagues.
