Medical Assistant
Job Description
This full-time Medical Assistant position supports a busy cardiology practice providing high-quality clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with physicians and other medical assistants to room patients, take accurate vitals, support medication safety, and ensure a smooth and compassionate patient experience throughout their visit.
Responsibilities
Room approximately 25-30 patients per day, ensuring each patient is prepared for their visit in a timely and professional manner.
Take and document accurate vital signs, including blood pressure and other key measurements, following established clinical protocols.
Support an oncology-focused practice by understanding basic oncology and/or cardiology concepts and providing compassionate patient care in a sensitive setting.
Assist with back-office clinical tasks as directed, including phlebotomy and other routine procedures within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
Use electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including Epic, to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
Follow the six rights of medication administration and adhere to all medication safety protocols to support safe patient care.
Assist physicians during patient visits as needed, helping to maintain clinic flow while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and the care team to support a positive and respectful clinic experience.
Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas in a clean, organized, and ready state for continuous patient flow.
Demonstrate reliability and dependability by consistently arriving on time and completing assigned tasks throughout the day.
Contribute to a high-volume clinic environment that may see up to 60 patients per day across two medical assistants, maintaining accuracy and composure under pressure.
Essential Skills
Experience or training as a Medical Assistant, including back-office clinical support.
Ability to take accurate vital signs, including blood pressure, and document them clearly in the medical record.
Working knowledge of oncology or a strong ability to learn and understand oncology-related patient care.
Proficiency using electronic medical record (EMR) systems; experience with Epic is strongly preferred.
Current CPR/BLS certification.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of the six rights of medication administration and adherence to medication safety protocols.
Understanding of basic medical terminology relevant to outpatient clinical care.
Strong patient care skills, including professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail in a clinical setting.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and quality of care.
Dependability and strong work ethic, including consistent attendance and reliability.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Phlebotomy experience or training is a plus.
Previous experience in an oncology clinic or specialty practice is beneficial.
Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic medical record workflows.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and families.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a busy clinical environment.
Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development within an oncology setting.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, onsite role in an oncology clinic located in the San Fernando Valley. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The clinic is fast paced, with up to 60 patients seen daily between two medical assistants, requiring consistent focus, efficiency, and teamwork. You will work closely with highly respected physicians in the area, using Epic and other electronic medical record systems to support patient care. The environment is clinical and patient-facing, with regular interaction with individuals undergoing oncology treatment, requiring professionalism, empathy, and adherence to all safety and clinical protocols.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
