(Job Description)
A large, reputable utility company in Bothell, WA, is currently hiring for an Electric Utility Project Manager to manage electric capital projects that improve system reliability, increase capacity, and reduce wildfire risk, including transmission, distribution, substation upgrades, large customer loads, and LGIA projects.
Pay - $55/hr. - $70/hr. (Depending on relevant work history, tenure, industry, etc.)
Location - Bothell, WA (50% On-site, 50% Remote) - Must be local in WA.
Contract Duration - 24-Month Contract (Possibility for Conversion)
(Responsibilities)
The Electric Utility Project Manager will oversee scope, schedule, and budget for projects or portfolios of moderate risk and financial impact, often coordinating with multiple agencies, private partners, and stakeholders.
The role initiates projects by securing stakeholder alignment and leads cross-functional teams to define timelines, methods, and resource allocation.
Responsibilities include developing statements of work, bid documents, and cost estimates.
The Project Manager is accountable for the full project lifecycle-from initiation through execution-ensuring delivery of scope, cost, schedule, and quality targets. This includes driving project plans, milestones, communication, team direction, and change management.
Additional duties include preparing documentation, status reports, and budgets. Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are required, along with experience in electric utility infrastructure management.
(Qualification Requirements)
6-8+ years of Project Management experience.
(Non-Negotiable) 2-3+ years of electric utility infrastructure experience.
Experience with transmission, distribution, substations, generation, or related utility operations.
Strong communication skills, problem-solving, and self-starter mentality.
Demonstrated experience overseeing project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience coordinating with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, permitting agencies, and regulatory organizations.
Knowledge of project management methodologies, project controls, and change management practices.
Comfortability with project management software (Team utilizes Primavera P6 and SAP, but coachable).
Must be comfortable submitting to a drug test (including THC testing) upon onboarding.
Must be local in WA (Relocation is not considered at this time).
(Preferred Qualifications)
Experience with: Transmission line projects, Distribution system upgrades, Substation construction and modernization, Wildfire mitigation programs, LGIA (Large Generator Interconnection Agreement) projects.
Knowledge of utility permitting, environmental compliance, and regulatory processes.
Familiarity with utility asset management and reliability improvement programs.
