Summary This position is located in the Office of Safety Recommendations & Communications, Government and Industry Affairs Division. The incumbent will serve as a first-level supervisor with managerial responsibilities and facilitate meetings between members of Congress and NTSB Board members and staff, respond to inquiries from lawmakers, and prepare testimony related to our investigations and recommendations. Responsibilities As a Division Chief Government and Industry Affairs Division, GS-0301-15, you will perform the following major duties: Oversees the Government and Industry Affairs Program, which includes developing and implementing the effective strategies to share the investigative mission of the agency and drive action on safety recommendations with our federal, state, local, and industry stakeholders. Serves as liaison between the NTSB and Congress, State and local governments, and industry trade groups on issues concerning NTSB accident investigations and safety recommendations. Coordinates government and industry affairs activities with fellow Division chiefs to ensure efficient, effective, and appropriate delivery of information to all external customers. Advises and counsels the Chairman, leadership, and other senior staff about significant government and industry affairs related decisions and activities and coordinates major activities with Board members and staff. Manages workforce planning, staffing, employee development, and performance management. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Managing government affairs, communications, or stakeholder engagement programs for an organization; advising senior executives, organization heads, or other high level stakeholder on communications, policy, or investigative matters; developing and implementing strategic communication initiatives involving senior executives, congressional, state, or local stakeholders, and external partners; participating in the preparation, review, or coordination of congressional briefings, responses to congressional inquiries, or other high profile communications products; and monitoring staff while managing organizational priorities, resources and strategic initiatives.
