Design mechanical systems and components for new installations, equipment upgrades, and modifications to existing machinery.
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to evaluate project viability and identify potential issues.
Provide technical support and mechanical engineering expertise to production and maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate design concepts and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Select appropriate materials, equipment, and technologies to support effective and efficient project implementation.
Coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on schedule and within approved budgets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, electrical engineers, and construction personnel, to achieve project goals and resolve technical challenges.
Evaluate and select vendors and contractors, considering technical capabilities, cost, and performance history.
Prepare technical specifications, requests for proposals (RFPs), and bid evaluations to support procurement and contractor selection.
Oversee contractor activities on site to ensure work complies with project requirements, quality expectations, and safety standards.
Ensure all projects adhere to established quality control procedures and applicable safety regulations.
Support the engineering leadership in maximizing site equipment availability and reliability through effective project execution and continuous improvement.
Lead and support a wide range of projects, from small upgrades to pumps and valves to mechanical and electrical upgrades, as well as larger heavy equipment projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in heavy industry, mining, metallurgical, or similar process manufacturing environments.
Experience in supporting production departments with technical resources and equipment reliability initiatives.
Experience with mechanical and electrical upgrades to pumps, valves, and heavy equipment.
Ability to manage a wide array of projects simultaneously, from small modifications to large capital improvements.
Strong communication skills for preparing technical specifications, RFPs, and bid evaluations.
Comfort working on both the plant floor and in an office setting, engaging with diverse operational and engineering teams.
Adaptability to take on a quick-start project engineer role, ideal for professionals who have recently completed a major project and are ready to begin a new assignment.
Work Environment
The role operates in a combined plant floor and office environment within a processing facility that receives raw material from mines and processes it into ingots for shipment. The engineer will spend time in operational areas around heavy industrial equipment, as well as in office spaces for planning, design, and documentation work. The environment involves close collaboration with production, maintenance, and construction teams and regular interaction with contractors and vendors.
