Job Duties and Responsibilities
40% Strategic Leadership and Department Supervision
Serve as a key strategic partner to the Executive Director of Student Life and Belonging, overseeing key departmental operations, supporting strategic initiatives, goal setting, policy development and continuous improvement surrounding student engagement and belonging. Position will serve as the primary leader of operations and management surrounding student activities, club and organizations, sorority and fraternity life, and leadership programs with a focus on fostering inclusive student engagement and a strong sense of belonging across campus.
Responsible for the hiring, development, evaluation and direct supervision of two full time positions including the Assistant Director of Clubs and Student Leadership, and the Coordinator of Belonging and Student Engagement
Supervise a student employee team inclusive of student organization support staff, sorority and fraternity student lead, and members of the marketing and design team.
Provide leadership and oversight related to compliance, process development, budget/expense tracking, supervision of procurement processes for student organizations, club risk management, and organizational advancement for student clubs and organizations.
Partner with the Assistant Director in providing curricular development, outreach, scholarship management, recruitment, and programming for the Urban Leadership Program (ULP) and general campus leadership programming.
Serve as a key partner and provide guidance and oversight for all belonging and engagement-focused programming and Student Activities Programming Board support with the Coordinator of Belonging and Student Engagement.
Coordinate with respective CMEI staff effective processes regarding student club budgets, spending, fund request approval processes, reporting, and tracking systems.
Regularly attend, engage, and lead CMEI staff meetings, events, programs, trainings, and projects
Set the strategic vision and curriculum of leadership programming and development within the department, adopt a leadership framework to be centered in the departments leadership work, and build out Urban Leadership Program (ULP outcomes, and general leadership philosophies.
35% Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) Advisement/Campus Advisor
Serve as the primary point of contact and on-campus advisor for all sorority and fraternity organizations and matters to include providing direction, coaching and development for SFL Community members and their respective councils.
Work with and educate council and chapter leaders, advisory board, local advisers, national/international organizations, and applicable MSU Denver departments in providing a robust infrastructure design to support the MSU Denver SFL community.
Serve as a liaison to national/international affiliated fraternity and sorority headquarters and professional staff including meeting and communicating with traveling leadership and chapter consultants.
Design and implement comprehensive FSL co-curricular programming including new member recruitment, ongoing member education, and promoting responsible membership and effective chapter management.
Coordinate the annual SFL recognition and accreditation program which includes chapter self-assessment, data collection, and regular chapter check-ins.
Manage, and implement a budget funded through student fee appropriations to SFL while ensuring fiscal responsibility, effective planning, and effective use of resources in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and university policies in specific procedures.
Develop and implement a long-term strategic vision for the Fraternity and Sorority Life community that enhances its presence on campus and fosters meaningful partnerships off campus as well.
Design and deliver supplemental programming that expands the reach and visibility of SFL, including signature events such as Greek Week, Yard Shows, Meet the Greeks, Greek Day, community service initiatives, and inclusive social programming.
Provide comprehensive advising, oversight, and opportunities of recruitment practices for all FSL organizations, ensuring alignment with institutional values and national standards.
Collaborate with academic support services to develop and implement academic success strategies tailored to the needs of fraternity and sorority members.
15% Campus-wide Activities and Campus Traditions
Direct and co-lead with the coordinator of belonging and student engagement the planning, implementation, and assessment of major traditional and campus-wide activities including, but not limited to, Rowdy Rally Convocation, Fall and Spring Ready, Set, ROWDY! Welcome Month programming, and Roadrunners after Dark Concert.
Lead the development of comprehensive evening and late-night programming opportunities that promote student belonging, connection, and engagement.
Collaborate closely with Housing and Residence Life, the Student Activities Programming board, and campus partners to align resources, messaging and calendars for evening and late night programming.
Provide innovation, strategic guidance, and leadership to the Student Activities Programming Board.
5% Department Marketing and Outreach
Oversee all department marketing, communications and outreach efforts through the Marketing and Design team, ensuring consistent branding, messaging, and alignment with institutional practices through digital, print, and social media platforms
Supervise the marketing and design team, setting clear expectations, timelines, and quality standards through partnership with university communications and marketing, and conduct the recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluation of student employees serving on this team.
