Job Description: Junior Systems Administrator Department: Information Technology

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Reports To: IT Manager Salary Range: $20.00-$24.00/hour starting wage, based on experience Position Summary Bascom Communications, a cooperative telecommunications and IT provider, is seeking a Junior Systems Administrator to support our growing team and customers.

We are a provider of worldclass Internet, Television, and Telephone services to residential and business customers, and provide IT services to local businesses though our growing Managed Services Provider division. As a Junior Systems Administrator, you will lead the charge of supporting our internal IT systems, including our network, servers, and firewalls -- as well as supporting them for our MSP customers. This position will be part of a larger team of support professionals who also help our Broadband Service Provider customers with their internet, television, and telephone services as needed. This position requires a motivated self-starter with strong troubleshooting skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively in a rural community environment where reliability, customer service, and teamwork are essential.

Key Responsibilities Internal IT

Provision, configure, maintain and deploy network and corporate IT equipment and provide support for equipment & software Assist with documentation and inventory of IT assets, software licensing, and lifecycle management. Managed Service Provider (MSP) Support Deliver remote and onsite support as needed for MSP clients. Support client environments including Windows workstations, servers, network equipment, and cloud services. Help onboard new MSP clients, including performing site assessments, installing equipment, and configuring systems. Monitor MSP tools such as RMM/PSA platforms, alerts, backups, and patch management systems. Participate in after-hours or on-call rotations for urgent MSP client needs. Cybersecurity Assist in developing, implementing, and enforcing cybersecurity policies and procedures. Monitor security tools such as antivirus/EDR platforms, firewalls, email security, and vulnerability scanners. Support incident response activities, including investigating alerts and documenting findings. Customer Support Troubleshoot and assist in responding to customer service calls related to internet, phone, TV, fixed wireless, and other related services as needed. Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure timely response to after-hours customer needs, outages, or urgent technical issues. Maintain accurate logs of customer interactions via trouble ticketing systems and ensure excellent customer service in all communications. General Duties Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation, procedures, and user guides. Collaborate with senior IT staff, field technicians, and management to support organizational goals. Deliver excellent customer service to both internal staff and external clients. Perform other duties as assigned to support IT operations and cooperative initiatives.

Qualifications Required:

Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. Strong understanding of Windows Desktop & Server operating systems, Linux operating systems, Microsoft 365, and common desktop applications. Basic knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routers, firewalls, switches, and cable management). Experience with help desk support, troubleshooting hardware/software issues. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, create and follow established procedures. Strong written and verbal communication skills; customer-service mindset.
