Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
This role is ideal for a hands-on Maintenance Technician who excels at troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment in a fast-paced production environment. The position focuses primarily on mechanical maintenance with a significant electrical component, requiring strong skills in electrical controls, PLCs, inverter drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, and facility systems. You will help ensure equipment reliability, support production uptime, and contribute to continuous improvement of plant operations.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair electrical control systems, including PLCs, inverter drives, sensors, and related components.
Diagnose and repair mechanical systems such as pumps, bearings, chains, sprockets, belting, valves, and conveying systems.
Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to support effective troubleshooting.
Respond promptly to maintenance calls during production hours and resolve equipment issues with a strong sense of urgency.
Carry out repairs and adjustments in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Perform plumbing and basic HVAC duties as needed to support facility operations.
Maintain and repair facility equipment and components, including compressors, steamers, conveyors, and related systems.
Take and record daily meter readings, boiler chemistry data, and sanitation-related measurements as required.
Assist in training new employees on correct machinery operation and basic equipment care.
Document work performed and communicate equipment status and needs clearly to supervisors and team members.
Access and navigate all areas of the facility and all parts of company equipment to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
Essential Skills
Strong troubleshooting ability in electrical control systems, including PLCs and inverter drives.
Demonstrated experience with mechanical troubleshooting of pumps, bearings, chains, sprockets, belting, valves, and conveying systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and basic blueprints.
Comfort working with pneumatics and hydraulics in an industrial environment.
Experience performing preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment.
Ability to respond quickly to maintenance calls and repair machinery with a strong sense of urgency.
Two years of electrical experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or facilities setting.
Experience with facilities maintenance components such as compressors, steamers, conveyors, sensors, and related equipment.
Comfortable performing basic plumbing or HVAC duties as needed.
Strong communication skills to interact effectively with production staff and maintenance team members.
Ability to access and navigate all areas of the facility and all parts of company equipment to perform required tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a fast-paced production or industrial environment.
Knowledge in both mechanical and electrical maintenance, with approximately 75% mechanical and 25% electrical responsibilities.
Familiarity with sanitation procedures and recording boiler chemistry and related readings.
Ability to train and mentor new employees on correct machinery operation and basic equipment care.
Attention to detail in documenting maintenance activities, meter readings, and equipment status.
Commitment to safe work practices in an environment with heavy equipment and high temperatures.

Work Environment
You will work in an industrial facility that processes hospital and healthcare linens, including sheets and similar items. Some areas can be very dirty, messy, and involve exposure to waste and heavily soiled materials. The production floor can be very hot, especially during the summer months, due to the nature of the equipment and processes in use. The role requires frequent movement throughout the facility and the ability to access all areas and components of the equipment to perform maintenance and repairs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alexandria, LA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
