General Information
SPPS is currently seeking to hire an Educational Assistant 1 Hourly for the ECFE program.
Early Childhood Family Education's (ECFE) mission is to strengthen families through education and support of all parents through providing the best possible environment for the healthy growth and development of their children. ECFE provides education in child development and parent/child relationships, which sets the stage for children's school success.
Qualifications
Required:1. One of the following: -Two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester or 90 quarter credits), OR -An AA, AS, AAS (or higher) degree, OR -Passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessment.2. Basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.3. Experience working with children in an educational setting.4. Ability to relate to students with warmth, friendliness, and understanding.5. Ability to develop good relationships with students and staff.6. Ability to be sensitive to the needs of others.7. Lifting may be required for some positions.8. Must be on time to the job every day.9. Ability to work effectively in a team with a classroom teacher, support staff and other paraprofessional employees.10. Some ability to perform basic signing with hearing impaired children may be required for certain positions.
Preferred:1. Experience working with children with disabilities.
Responsibilities
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:1. Assist in preparing instructional plans and lessons for students.2. Assist in the day-to-day operation of the school program by preparing behavior modification charts, point charts, bonus coupons and homework sheets; monitoring student attendance, and collecting data or other related activities. Record student progress on appropriate documents and maintain official school district student records.3. Assist the teacher in the preparation and housekeeping of the classroom by cleaning, arranging or storing materials, furniture, equipment and written documents and files.4. Work directly with individual students and groups in daily activities and assignments, providing direction and assistance.5. Monitor and manage student behavior by providing appropriate activities, attention and directions, pacing and cues, feedback and consequences for behaviors.6. Relate to students in a patient, supportive and warm manner; intervene with students in crisis in a calm and empathic manner.7. Participate in school related activities outside the classroom such as home visits with the teacher, family night or field trips.8. Work cooperatively with staff, other professionals and parents.9. Participate in staffing and conferences related to students and to the program by reporting on data collected, providing feedback on data, and reporting pupil progress for the classroom and program (evening meetings when needed).10. Assist the instructional team in providing individualized instruction by tutoring students who need extra help in completing assignments, providing enrichment activities for students, supervising study sessions, and organizing and implementing applications of the computer as a supplemental instructional tool.11. Assist in the development and organization of program activities and services by reporting student observations, gathering information, and providing suggestions.12. Attend team and school staff meetings.13. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Pay, Benefits and Work Schedule
This is a temporary position working a variety hours per week up to 35 hours a week.
Salary is in accordance with the EA negotiated labor agreement. The full salary schedule is listed in the Educational Assistants contract. The rate of pay for this position is $23.24 per hour.

Transcript - Unofficial transcripts are accepted at the time of hire. You must submit official transcripts within 30 days of your start date. Formal credential evaluation is required for post-secondary education completed outside of the United States.
