Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) is currently seeking a Data Scientist to join our team! This position will support advanced data analytics initiatives, designing scalable data solutions and enabling insight-driven decision-making efforts. The position is located at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ.

What will you be doing?

This position will be a key member of the data analytics and digital solutions team. Duties include:

Conceptualize and design high-impact data use cases by transforming unstructured data (e.g., web pages, PDFs, free-text) into actionable insights

Develop and maintain Python 3 scripts to extract and process data from sources such as Excel, CSV, JSON, Markdown, APIs, and internal documents

Utilizes Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) to execute/modify locally hosted large language models (LLMs) to generate summaries, classifications and data enrichments.

Perform prompt engineering by designing,testing, documenting, and versioning prompts to ensure consistent outputs

Build, enhance, and maintain Power BI dashboards and configure on-premises data gateways for automated refreshes

Generate deliverables in PDF, Word, and HTML formats using open-source tools

Create comprehensive documentation for datasets, workflows, scripts, and dashboards

Develop robust data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation pipelines

Design and maintain scalable data models to support analytics and reporting requirements

Analyze and solve complex data-related challenges with a strong problem-solving approach

Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and contribute to AI strategy documentation

Perform other duties as assigned

What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful?

This position will require the following skillsets and experience:

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

Minimum of 2-5 years experience

Experience developing Python-based data processing solutions

Hands-on experience with data transformation, modeling, and analytics

Experience working with structured and unstructured data sources

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Must be US Citizen and able to obtain a security clearance
