We're seeking an experienced Electrical & Mechanical Inspector to join a high-profile, multi-building data center construction project. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering one of the most demanding and technically advanced construction environments in the industry.
As a key member of the quality team, you'll help ensure that critical electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems are installed correctly, meet the highest quality standards, and are fully prepared for commissioning and operations. What You'll Do
As the Electrical & Mechanical Inspector, you'll serve as a trusted quality resource throughout construction, helping drive successful project delivery by ensuring systems are installed safely, correctly, and in accordance with project requirements.
Quality Assurance & Inspections
Perform comprehensive inspections across four active data center buildings at various stages of construction.
Verify that all electrical, mechanical, and plumbing (MEP) installations meet project specifications, contract documents, applicable codes, and industry standards.
Identify deficiencies, document observations, and ensure corrective actions are completed before work is concealed or progresses to the next phase.
Confirm equipment and systems are properly protected throughout construction to prevent damage and maintain quality standards.
Electrical & Mechanical Systems Oversight
Inspect MEP systems, equipment installations, rough-ins, and supporting infrastructure for quality, workmanship, and compliance.
Verify adequate access, clearances, and maintainability for installed equipment, valves, controls, and access panels.
Review electrical conduit installations for proper routing, support, organization, and workmanship.
Conduct SCCS reviews, including breaker settings verification and arc flash labeling compliance.
Review NETA testing documentation to confirm all required testing has been successfully completed.
Commissioning & Turnover Support
Evaluate systems for readiness ahead of commissioning and startup activities.
Support turnover processes by reviewing inspection documentation, tracking observation closure, and coordinating deliverables.
Participate in final quality walkthroughs with project stakeholders and owners.
Partner with construction and commissioning teams to ensure a seamless transition from construction to operations.
Site Quality & Safety
Perform Foreign Object Debris (FOD) inspections to maintain clean, safe, and equipment-ready environments.
Review contractor means and methods for compliance with project standards and report concerns promptly.
Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the project site.
What You'll BringRequired Qualifications
5-10 years of experience in construction inspection, quality assurance, quality control, or construction management.
Experience inspecting electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems on commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or data center projects.
Proven ability to verify construction work against drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
Hands-on experience with:
Electrical and mechanical system inspections
SCCS reviews, including breaker settings and arc flash labeling
NETA testing documentation review
FOD inspections within active construction environments
Strong understanding of construction quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.
OSHA 10 certification or higher.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify issues before they impact schedule or commissioning.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and confidently within large, fast-paced construction environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Data center or mission-critical facility construction experience.
Experience in construction management, commissioning, or MEP-focused quality roles.
Experience supporting system startup, commissioning, and project turnover activities.
Familiarity with critical power, cooling, and infrastructure systems found within data center environments.
Experience working within structured QA/QC programs on large-scale construction projects.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work across multiple buildings and systems.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frederick, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $145000.00/hr.
