UW Information Technology (UW-IT) has an outstanding opportunity for Director of Digital Accessibility to join their team.
About this Opportunity
Reporting to Associate Vice President and Deputy CIO, the Director of Digital Accessibility is the leader of the Accessible Technology Services unit. The Director must understand and translate federal accessibility obligations and standards, including ADA/Title II digital accessibility regulations, Section 504, Section 508, WCAG standards, UW Digital Accessibility Policy, UW technical standards, and related procedures into institutional strategy, procurement practices, service delivery, and practical guidance for distributed UW units.
The salary information provided below is for a full-time position.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Science, Computer Science, or related field or experience.
Six years' experience in the following:
Experience and demonstrated success building partnerships that span organizational silos.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate complex programs and decision making.
Demonstrated experience leading complex accessibility, compliance, technology service, disability inclusion, or enterprise program functions in a large, decentralized organization.
Experience leading through influence across organizational boundaries, including senior stakeholders, distributed business owners, technical teams, and compliance partners.
Experience managing managers, multi-team portfolios, or complex service/program operations with accountability for people leadership, service quality, planning, and outcomes.
Strong knowledge and experience in project, product and service lifecycle management.
Experience in extensive engagement of end users.
Demonstrated ability and experience supervising staff.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute multi-year strategic and operational plans.
Experience in managing projects in diverse subject areas with the ability to quickly "climb the learning curve" in new subject areas.
Excellent oral and written communications skills; demonstrated and committed to provide excellent customer service.
Strong office and project organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to effectively resolve escalated issues and risks, whether directly or working with program executive sponsors.
Experience leading organizational change.
Experience leading a diverse technical team.
Experience in understanding technical concepts quickly and effectively

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in digital accessibility.
Experience in vendor relationship management.
Experience working in an institution of higher education, especially a decentralized research university
Knowledge of compliance and reporting requirements related to digital accessibility programs
Grant writing and/or engagement with federal entities, such as the National Science Foundation, and fundraising. Knowledge of ITIL
Working Conditions
Responsibility to work varied hours as needed to meet deadlines and to accomplish work assignments on which university activities depend. Daily leadership and oversight of team members, subject matter experts and stakeholders at all levels of the organization. This position has regular stringent deadlines revolving around the academic calendar that may require extended work hours.
About the Team
UW Information Technology (UWIT) is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing critical technology support to all three campuses and UW medical centers. This includes information technology and services in customer experience, data & applications, infrastructure, information security, people & culture, research computing, and strategy & business operations. UWIT collaborates with university partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation, and discovery at the UW.
Accessible Technology Services within UW-IT, operates in a uniquely complex environment that spans technical program management, legal compliance, research center leadership, and national advocacy. The scope of responsibility extends across all three UW campuses, UW Medicine, and the broader public through the DO-IT Center's national reach, requiring the incumbent to navigate and lead effectively across a highly diverse set of institutional @contexts and stakeholder communities simultaneously.

$126,924.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$220,008.00 annual
