Utilize the following shop equipment to accomplish requirements: hydrostatic test stand; precision measuring equipment; Woodward Governor test machine; fuel oil injection pump test machine; fuel oil injection nozzle test machine; Chris Marine valve/valve seat grinder; Chris Marine cylinder honing machine; hydraulic cylinder head bolt stretching tool; manual and automatic parts washing machine; parts and blasting machine; hydraulic (HYTORC) torque wrenches; portable electrical, pneumatic, and hand tools; and Government owned vehicles, including fork lifts, and electric/gas vehicles and carts.
Provide Journeyman-level support to accomplish maintenance and repairs of shipboard oily waste separator systems, including 5-GPM Oily Waste Membrane System AAE, Model 740956.
Disassemble, inspect, repair/overhaul/replace, reassemble, and test oily waste separator system equipment and components including membranes.
What You Must Have
High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience.
Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
Must be physically able to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment.
Must be able to read and interpret equipment and systems, ship drawings and ship technical documents and manuals.
Must have the ability to inspect, disassemble, repair, overhaul, reassemble, and test marine diesel engines and oily-waste-separator systems using specialized shop equipment and precision tools.
Must be able to complete OHSA 10 course, low speed vehicle training (for operation of carts), and completion of PQS 301 Craftsman qualification within ninety (90) days.
May require forklift license depending on shop need - will require forklift physical.
Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC/DBIDS ID Base access and DoD Security Clearance.
Start date contingent upon approval of base access which is required for this position and continued employment.
Bonus Points For
A current, valid DoD confidential security clearance or higher.
Recent Marine Diesel Engine Technician experience.
Recent Oily Waste Separator systems experience
Prefer technical/professional certifications.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
May require wearing a respirator.
