Job Title: Director of Facilities
Job Description
The Director of Engineering & Facilities will lead all engineering and facility operations across multiple Bay Area locations. This hands-on leadership role involves both strategic oversight and active floor presence to support daily operations, major capital improvement projects, and complex equipment needs. The role emphasizes system reliability, facility upgrades, and team development to address maintenance, production, and infrastructure challenges within a unique and aging facility environment. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to ensure operational continuity, safety, and long-term infrastructure planning.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop Engineering and Facilities teams, including managers, supervisors, and technicians.
Build and scale a strong maintenance organization, including hiring, training, and evaluating talent.
Ensure team members are properly trained and capable of addressing both equipment and facility challenges.
Maintain a strong presence on the production floor, providing hands-on leadership and support.
Oversee daily engineering and facilities operations across Sausalito and San Francisco locations.
Lead major capital improvement projects, including equipment upgrades and infrastructure enhancements.
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and expense control for engineering and facilities functions.
Align engineering initiatives with production, innovation, and operational goals.
Ensure reliability and performance of industrial equipment and production systems, building infrastructure and facility systems, and automation and control systems (PLC, electrical, mechanical).
Troubleshoot complex equipment failures and facility issues.
Partner with OEM vendors and contractors for advanced technical support.
Oversee CMMS systems, maintenance programs, and technical documentation.
Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on efficiency, safety, and system reliability.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire safety, environmental regulations, and hazardous material standards.
Lead emergency response planning and infrastructure readiness.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Build strong working relationships with Production, Operations, EH&S, Design, Sales, and IT teams.
Act as a key partner in long-term infrastructure planning and business continuity.
Essential Skills
8-10+ years of progressive experience in engineering, facilities, or maintenance leadership roles.
Experience in manufacturing, including smaller-scale or specialty manufacturing.
Experience in brewery or food & beverage production environments preferred.
Proven experience leading teams and managing facility operations.
Experience overseeing capital projects, budgets, and resource allocation.
Hands-on, floor-oriented leadership style.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to assess talent and build high-performing teams.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
Equivalent hands-on experience will be considered in place of a degree.

Work Environment
On-site presence required 5 days per week, split between Sausalito and San Francisco. Occasional on-call responsibilities and weekend support for events or critical issues. Adaptability is required within a dynamic and evolving facility environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of San Francisco, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
