Job Description
The Coordinator for Social Work Education is charged by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) to provide leadership in the on-going development and implementation of the field education in both BSW & MSW field education programs in accordance with field education accreditation standards. This is one of only two administrative positions mandated by CSWE for the provision of undergraduate and graduate social work education. The Coordinator for Social Work Education directs and coordinates all aspects of field education and practicum experiences.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement field education programs in accordance with CSWE accreditation standards including assessment of learning and agency setting, development and oversight of policies and procedures, orientation for students and field instructors, contract management, compliance with oversite bodies for field placement, and oversite of field placements.
Develop and implement online presence and webpage for field education training and placement development.
Coordinate and communicate with Department of Social Work Chair, faculty, Program Coordinators, Dean's office, other university departments, and community regarding field education.
Develop syllabi teach field class and seminar and oversee delivery of field education seminars in the BSW & MSW program each semester.
Advise students in BSW & MSW programs.
Minimum Qualifications
MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program with minimum of 5 years post-MSW practice experience.
Minnesota Board of Social Work Licensed Social Worker or the ability to obtain license.
Experience in BSW or MSW field education.
Strong technical and computer skills and experience, including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with individuals and teams of diverse personalities and perspectives.
Ability to apply critical-thinking, problem-solving and perform with a high degree of autonomy in a student-centered environment.
Evidence of the ability to work with individuals, families, groups, and organizations from culturally diverse backgrounds
Preferred Qualification
University, college or professional teaching or professional training experience.
Social work practice experience with diverse populations and familiarity with various social work practice settings, including rural settings.
Experience with social work evaluation or research.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of Anti-Oppressive Practice.
Other Requirements
Primarily working on-campus in an office, with occasional travel to field agency sites.
