Job Description
This long-term, multi-year opportunity is for an Electrical / Controls Project Engineer supporting a major industrial project based out of Jackson, TN. The role focuses on front-end loading (FEL) and project execution rather than day-to-day PLC programming, and centers on bridging electrical engineering, controls systems, and field execution. You will work across design, installation, and project coordination to keep work progressing efficiently among plant teams, vendors, engineers, and contractors.
Responsibilities
Support front-end loading (FEL) activities, including project scoping, cost estimates, and preparation of project documentation.
Act as a liaison between plant engineering, process, packaging, utilities, digital teams, and external contractors to ensure alignment and timely decision-making.
Review and interpret electrical, controls, and panel drawings, as well as field installation details, to support accurate and efficient execution.
Support industrial electrical systems, including 480V power distribution, motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and servo drives.
Work within and support Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and plant control systems to ensure reliable operation and integration.
Participate in factory acceptance tests (FATs), installation planning, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities for electrical and controls systems.
Assist in developing and maintaining electrical and controls standards, specifications, and documentation to promote consistency and best practices.
Utilize AutoCAD, Vault, or similar systems for drawing creation, modification, and document management.
Ensure compliance with applicable electrical and safety codes and standards, including NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, UL 508A, and related regulations.
Track and report project scope, schedule, budget, risks, and open items across multiple projects, maintaining a strong project ownership mindset.
Communicate effectively with plant personnel, vendors, engineers, and field leadership to coordinate work, resolve issues, and drive project progress.
Support on-site installation and field execution activities, working with contractors to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.
Provide cross-functional coordination to bridge design intent with field conditions and operational requirements.
Essential Skills
Strong foundation in electrical engineering and controls, including the ability to read and interpret electrical and controls drawings.
Hands-on understanding of industrial power distribution systems, particularly 480V power distribution.
Experience with motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and servo drives in industrial environments.
Practical experience working with Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and plant control systems.
Demonstrated project execution and coordination experience, including supporting installations and working directly with contractors on-site.
Ability to track and manage project scope, schedule, budget, and risks from FEL through commissioning and startup.
Strong cross-functional communication skills, with comfort interfacing with plant teams, vendors, engineers, and stakeholders.

Proficiency with AutoCAD, Vault, or similar tools for electrical and controls drawings and document management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience supporting multi-year industrial capital projects from early design through field execution.
Experience in developing and maintaining electrical and controls standards, specifications, and documentation.
Comfort working in both on-site and remote support modes, adjusting communication style to suit different stakeholders.

Strong organizational skills for managing multiple concurrent tasks and priorities across several projects.
Willingness and ability to travel to Jackson, TN as needed to support on-site activities.
