Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Level 3Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer Level 3 leads end-to-end new product introduction (NPI) into manufacturing, owning projects from engineering through full-scale production. This role focuses on troubleshooting and resolving production issues, driving long-term process improvements, and partnering closely with contract manufacturers and internal teams. You will serve as a technical lead for cross-functional initiatives, ensuring that manufacturing processes, documentation, and tooling support scalable, efficient, and high-quality production in a fast-paced environment with global manufacturing exposure.
Responsibilities
Lead and execute new product introduction (NPI) into manufacturing, owning projects from engineering handoff through stable production.
Take products from engineering to production readiness, ensuring all documentation, processes, and execution plans are complete and accurate.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues on the shop floor, implementing long-term corrective actions rather than temporary fixes.
Own and continuously improve manufacturing processes and documentation to ensure scalability, efficiency, and robust quality.
Drive and lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives focused on cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency gains.
Partner closely with contract manufacturers and internal teams, acting as the technical lead and primary decision-maker for manufacturing-related topics.
Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives that involve engineering, quality, operations, and external manufacturing partners.
Support the development, design, and implementation of tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing solutions that enhance production performance.
Work directly with production teams on the shop floor to troubleshoot issues, optimize processes, and improve manufacturability.
Influence product design for manufacturability by making minor product design adjustments to simplify manufacturing and reduce complexity.
Collaborate effectively across production, quality, engineering, and contract manufacturing teams to align on goals and resolve issues.
Identify process gaps and opportunities, then drive structured continuous improvement activities to enhance efficiency, quality, and throughput.
Communicate clearly with engineering teams to ensure smooth handoffs and to advocate for manufacturing needs and constraints.
Support global manufacturing activities and collaborate with international manufacturing sites in the US, Mexico, EU, Asia, and Taiwan.
Travel regularly to domestic and international manufacturing sites to support NPI, troubleshoot issues, and drive process improvements.
Essential Skills
Strong manufacturing engineering experience with direct, hands-on work in production and shop floor environments.
Proven end-to-end NPI ownership, including taking products from engineering through production readiness and ramp.
Direct experience working with and supporting external manufacturing partners and contract manufacturers.
4+ years of CAD experience focused on fixture design and minor product changes to support manufacturing needs.
Ability to use any CAD platform to design fixtures and implement product adjustments that improve manufacturability.
Demonstrated capability to troubleshoot production issues and implement durable, long-term solutions.
Experience driving process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing settings.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and their practical application in production environments.
Ability to interface effectively with engineering teams, influencing product design for manufacturability without excessive handoffs.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working across production, quality, engineering, and contract manufacturing organizations.
Comfort working directly with production teams to identify issues, gather data, and implement process changes.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated ownership mindset, taking responsibility for outcomes and following issues through to resolution.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience making minor product design adjustments that simplify manufacturing and reduce complexity.
Exposure to global manufacturing environments, including sites in Mexico, the European Union, Asia, and Taiwan.
Experience leading continuous improvement and lean initiatives that deliver measurable cost, quality, and efficiency benefits.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
Comfort with frequent international travel to support manufacturing partners and project needs.
Interest in working within a collaborative, positive environment that emphasizes work-life balance.
Motivation to contribute to a culture that values ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
