Job Summary
The Lab Technician, Information Technology, will help maintain the usability and completeness of the Information Technology labs. The Lab Tech will coordinate with the Information Technology program chair to review current lab lessons, materials, equipment, and supplies for accuracy, completeness, and ability to be completed. The lab tech will also help plan and develop future lab activities and will be required to restock, clean, and maintain lab facilities.
Essential responsibilities and other duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
Ensure IT labs, equipment, and workstations adhere to 5S principles through organization, cleanliness, standardization, and continuous improvement.
Review, test, troubleshoot, and support current and future lab assignments, projects, and instructional activities.
Collaborate with faculty to develop, improve, and expand lab assignments, projects, and hands-on learning experiences.
Install, configure, maintain, update, and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, networking equipment, and instructional technology.
Provide technical support and assistance to students and faculty in classroom, laboratory, and instructional environments.
Support networking, cybersecurity, and other technology initiatives within the division and college.
Manage laboratory supplies, equipment, inventories, and technology assets to ensure operational effectiveness.
Assist with technology projects, classroom upgrades, equipment deployments, and special college events as needed.
Support the engineering and information technology programs of the College through laboratory preparation, technical assistance, and instructional support.
Maintain accurate records and complete required reports in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
Contribute to institutional effectiveness activities, including program review, student learning outcomes assessment, accreditation efforts, grants, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to support department, division, and college goals, strategic initiatives, and student success efforts.
Support student retention, progression, completion, equity, and inclusion initiatives that promote learner success.
Support the College's mission, vision, core values, policies, and procedures.
Marginal Functions:
May participate in the Colleges recruitment efforts; reviews and provides recommendations for the program publications, webpage, publicity, and other community relations activities and events.
Assists with the inventory of programmatic equipment; assumes responsibility for labs and other facilities designated primarily for the assigned program.
Supports college functions and cultural activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:
One (1) year of experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer hardware and software.
Experience supporting Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience troubleshooting desktop, laptop, printer, and peripheral issues.
Experience providing technical support to users in a customer service environment.
Ability to set up and maintain computer labs and classroom technology.
Ability to lift and move computer equipment up to 50 pounds.
Strong reading comprehension and adeptness in word processing
Effective communication skills
Preferred Experience:
Familiarity and expertise in 5S organizational principles
Experience working in an educational environment, computer lab, help desk, or technical support role.
Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and user account management.
Experience with networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, switches, wireless networking, and network troubleshooting.
Experience supporting virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
Experience imaging computers and deploying software.
Experience with cybersecurity best practices.
Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Cisco, or equivalent
Required Training:
Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Cybersecurity, Networking, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Operate equipment safely and effectively.

Environmental Conditions:
The Lab Technician should have the ability to effectively work in an environment that may include multiple workspaces, working closely with others, and periodically working irregular hours.
The Lab Technician must maintain the office and teaching environments by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment.
