Position Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic data team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in helping shape and drive technical strategy across key business areas, leveraging your deep technical expertise and domain knowledge to collaborate effectively across teams. You will contribute to the execution of long term strategic initiatives, bringing a forward thinking mindset and a proactive approach to problem solving.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
As a trusted technical leader, you will help deliver scalable data solutions that strengthen the client's global technology capabilities and support the evolving needs of the business.
Additionally, you will be expected to champion the adoption of AI technologies and @context aware systems, utilizing frameworks like the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to bridge the gap between enterprise data and intelligent agentic workflows.
Author high quality Golang and Python code to deliver new features, evolve existing services and resolve defects.
We are seeking candidates located in St. Louis, MO ideally. We will consider candidates located in the states of Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Demonstrated extensive experience with Python or Go
Familiarity with API design principles (REST, gRPC) and API gateway technologies;
Deep knowledge and demonstrated experience with Google Kubernetes Engine and Google Cloud Platform;
Knowledge of key architectural patterns, such as microservices and event driven architecture, with a deep understanding of their related trade offs;
Strong knowledge of best practices for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD);
Familiarity with data architecture and modeling concepts and paradigms;
Familiarity with Observability concepts, such as Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and related tooling (e.g., Datadog, OpenTelemetry, etc.);
Demonstrated experience as a productive reviewer of code, with an ability to coach others on the differentiation of style and correctness;
Demonstrated experience with relational databases and declarative query languages such as SQL (e.g., Oracle, Postgres, etc.);
Experience with the git version control system and related tools such as GitHub or GitLab;
Significant experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling (e.g. Terraform, etc.);
Familiarity with the publish/subscribe models and supporting technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, Google Pubsub, AWS SNS/SQS, etc.);
Proven experience in designing, building and running large scale systems
Demonstrated experience or strong familiarity with integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities into software systems, including utilizing the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to expose data sources and internal tools to GenAI models.
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated experience migrating Python codebases to Go
Strong understanding of cloud native security best practices;
Strong understanding of DevOps best practices;
Direct experience implementing service meshes (e.g., Istio) in Kubernetes environments;
Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture and concepts with direct experience deploying software using the Kubernetes control plane;
A demonstrated understanding of Machine Learning and Generative AI concepts, including hands on experience building MCP servers, custom LLM integrations, or agentic frameworks; Design and implement MCP servers exposing domain data and APIs Define schemas / contracts for tooling and data @contexts optimize latency, reliability, and security of MCP interactions

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $88,200.00 $156,700.00.
