This position provides advanced administrative and technical support for human resources operations at the Minnesota Zoo across the employee lifecycle. The role is responsible for processing and auditing personnel transactions; coordinating onboarding, benefits, and retirement activities; maintaining HR records, systems, reports, and data integrity; and supporting payroll coordination and operational HR processes.
This position has access to documents/data containing labor relations information as defined in M.S. 13.37 providing data and information to labor relations and human resources staff as it relates to leave administration, accommodations, strike planning, layoff transactions and planning, etc.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Review, research, prepare, approve, and process employee and position transactions using the State's HRIS system to ensure actions are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with established procedures, contracts/plans, and applicable policies.
Create, maintain, and distribute standard and ad hoc HR reports to support human resources operations, reporting needs, and data accuracy. Conduct routine HR data audits, research discrepancies, and coordinate corrections as needed. Prepare and distribute seniority rosters in accordance with applicable bargaining agreements and personnel plans.
Coordinate benefits and insurance administration activities and provide general information to employees regarding available benefit programs, open enrollment processes, and retirement resources. Serve as liaison with Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) SEGIP staff regarding insurance-related transactions and employee inquiries.
Provide coordination and administrative support for employee onboarding, recognition, and employee experience programs.
Provide administrative and operational support for Human Resources activities to ensure efficient office operations, accurate recordkeeping, and compliance with records retention and data privacy requirements. Maintain personnel, I-9, and related HR files and coordinate routine purchasing and administrative support activities for the HR office.
Provide technical and administrative support for HR projects and process improvement activities to support efficient and accurate HR operations.
Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of experience providing administrative or technical support in a human resources office or closely related environment.
Experience must demonstrate:
Processing employee or position transactions in an HRIS, payroll, or similar database system
Maintaining confidential employee records and handling sensitive information in accordance with data privacy requirements
Creating, reviewing, auditing, or maintaining HR, payroll, benefits, or personnel-related reports and records
Providing customer service and procedural guidance to employees, supervisors, applicants, or the public regarding HR-related processes
Researching and applying established HR procedures, policies, collective bargaining agreement provisions, or administrative guidelines
Using Microsoft Office applications and/or HR information systems to manage records, prepare correspondence, and maintain reports
Preferred Qualifications
Organizing and prioritizing multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy and meeting established timelines
Experience using HR reporting tools, dashboards, or data visualization software such as OBIEE, Power BI, or similar reporting applications
Experience creating or maintaining forms, flowcharts, organizational charts, dashboards, spreadsheets, or other operational resources using tools such as Microsoft Forms, Adobe, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, or related software applications
Experience using advanced Excel functions such as formulas, pivot tables, filters, lookups, and data organization tools to support reporting and operational needs
Demonstrated interest and aptitude in learning and utilizing technology solutions to improve reporting, workflow efficiency, communication, records management, and HR operational processes.
Experience supporting HR reporting, records management, onboarding, or workflow improvement activities in a human resources environment
