Job Title: Kitter / Materials Handler
Job Description
This role focuses on accurately picking, staging, and supplying small parts, products, and raw materials to production and assembly areas. You will work on your feet throughout the shift, use precise measurement tools to cut materials, and ensure that all materials are correctly tracked and delivered to support continuous manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
Pick, pull, and stage parts, products, and raw materials and place them in appropriate bins and carts for distribution to assembly lines.
Maintain a continuous and reliable supply of materials to one or more production or assembly areas.
Ensure correct parts are kept in appropriate quantities to support production and assembly requirements.
Perform repetitive material supply functions by following detailed work directions, procedures, and instructions.
Measure and cut materials accurately using rulers and tape measures, including metric measurements, to meet precise specifications.
Inspect parts for damage or defects, record discrepancies, and promptly notify supervisors or purchasing personnel.
Maintain the department database, prepare routine reports, and file kitting records accurately and on time.
Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, including continuous quality improvement and safety standards.
Comply with environmental and infection control standards applicable to the facility and work area.
Complete various assigned tasks to help the facility operate smoothly and efficiently.
Track packages, follow defined processes, and maintain accurate shipping and inventory records.
Control materials going to production to ensure the department runs smoothly and efficiently.
Process shipments and other inventory transactions in ERP/SAP systems while following work order and customer schedules and restrictions.
Adhere to local and corporate procedures and support on-time delivery to internal and external customers.
Use scan guns and other inventory tools to pick, pack, and record materials and finished goods.
Essential Skills
Experience working with small parts in a manufacturing, warehouse, or kitting environment.
Ability to be on your feet for the entire shift and perform repetitive material handling tasks.
Proficiency using rulers and tape measures, including reading and working with metric units.
Demonstrated ability to accurately measure and cut materials to precise specifications.
Experience with order picking, packing, and kitting in a production or warehouse setting.
Hands-on experience with inventory control, order picking, packaging, and materials handling.
Ability to use scan guns and related tools for picking, packing, and inventory tracking.
ERP and SAP experience, including processing shipments and inventory transactions.
Strong time management skills to meet production and shipping schedules.
Ability to operate general tools and equipment safely in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
Capability to track packages, follow standardized processes, and maintain accurate shipping records.
Ability to follow detailed work instructions, local procedures, and corporate policies consistently.
Basic English skills, with the ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
Ability to stand for long periods and to lift, stoop, and bend as needed for material handling.
High level of attention to detail, with good manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience as a kitter, materials handler, order picker, or similar role.
Experience in working with inventory systems and warehouse documentation.
Familiarity with packaging processes and shipping documentation.
Comfort working in a clean-room or controlled manufacturing environment.
Interest in learning about fiber optics and technology-focused manufacturing.
Ability to support continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the department.

Work Environment
The role is based in a clean manufacturing environment focused on producing fiber optic products for both government and private customers. Work is performed in a clean-room @type setting where you will wear a basic gown similar to a lab coat to maintain cleanliness standards. You will be on your feet for most of the day, regularly lifting, stooping, and bending while handling small parts and materials. Standard tools, scan guns, and ERP/SAP systems are part of the daily workflow. The typical shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing a consistent daytime schedule in a controlled, organized production facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tualatin, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
