Job Title: Process/Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Golden Valley, MN (ONSITE)
Pay: $36 - $45/hour
Shift: Monday - Thursday, 4X10's (Flexible on start time)
This is a 6 month contract to hire opportunity!
The Process/Manufacturing Engineer will work extensively with Manufacturing Engineering and the shop floor in creating and maintaining a reliable process for the area they support while achieving safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. This role also works on the development of parts and tooling associated with their assigned areas as well as continuous improvement initiatives for their specific area.
Key Responsibilities:
Actively participate in daily tier structure meetings.
Support and lead daily line support and continuous improvement initiatives.
Be a specialist for the area they support and make decisions to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency of the manufacturing processes.
Evaluates current processes, materials, and equipment to ensure compatibility with operating philosophy.
Skilled at creating and maintaining all process documentation.
Interacts with related departments and support functions to ensure product is produced, handled, and delivered in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
Experienced at using quality tools and statistical process control techniques to help production obtain quality metrics.
Capable of leading root cause investigations using a structured approach and effectively use quality tools to solve problems and identify root cause.
Documents quality and manufacturing procedures using Standard Operating Procedures.
Maintain and update departmental labor standards for area of ownership. Analyzes processes identifying wastes and assists in implementing recommendations. Determines and maintains capacity calculations based on equipment, labor resources and standards. Assist machine balance for minimum cycle time.
Implement and support lean practices across all value streams.
Analyzes workflow in department, determining best layout for operating philosophy. Maintains department layout on CAD file.
Manages and owns the preventative and predictive maintenance for applicable equipment and tooling.
Manage new equipment by performing justification calculations, interacts with vendors on new equipment and equipment specifications ensuring compatibility with existing facility and operating philosophy.
Provides cost estimates on new product for budget/planning; interacts with new product development team to ensure concepts are compatible with existing equipment.
Builds internal relationships, promotes ongoing communication and partners with other Company sites.
Responsible for managing the efficiency and quality metrics of assigned area and taking immediate corrective actions to ensure they stay on track.
Capable of leading large cross functional project teams.
Create and modify routings and bill of materials.
Skilled at programming production equipment in assigned area (i.e. press brakes, lasers, mills, lathes, rotomold, and robotic welders).
Ability to provide management team high level status updates on critical projects and support activities.
Execute engineering studies required to optimize production processes and help identify root cause.
Take a lead role in ensuring assigned area is ISO 9001 compliant.
Ability to review prints/models to determine the most cost-effective way to manufacture product.
Ability to use technical and collaboration skills along side innovation and continuous improvement to drive growth through targeted improvements.
Apply technical skills and knowledge to new and existing products to promote innovation, design, procedures, tooling enhancements, and automation initiatives.
Provide DFM and PFMEA procedures to enhance NPD success.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, preferably in Manufacturing or related field.
1-5 years of experience in production/industrial engineering preferably with a metal fabrication background (sheet metal, welding, machine shop, paint, rotomold).
2 years of demonstrated ability to execute projects to established timelines.
Experience in Continuous Improvement and Lean manufacturing.
Demonstrated knowledge of CAD/CAM software, assembly processes, and MS Office
Proven track record of innovation, ingenuity, creativity, attention to detail, ownership, integrity, accountability, and willingness to seek and take on challenges is required.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Proficiency in Statistical Process Control and motion and time studies highly preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
