Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description
Oversee and coordinate all activities of the assigned team to ensure safety, quality, cost, and delivery are integral parts of daily operations. Provide direct supervision of employees, manage daily metrics, and implement improvements. Lead problem-solving initiatives and work closely with various departments to meet objectives.
Responsibilities
Manage 35 to 40 shop floor associates, starting work half an hour before the shift and ending half an hour after, depending on overtime.
Start early to review the shop floor, check schedules, read emails for updates, and plan manpower allocation using a training matrix.
Conduct audits, coach, mentor, and engage with associates on the shop floor.
Lead problem-solving teams using tools like five whys and fishbone diagrams, driving root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
Manage daily orders for assigned region by planning the purchasing, machining, and/or assembly of products.
Collaborate with Customer Care, Procurement, Production, Quality, and Outside Processing to meet On Time Delivery and Inventory Availability objectives.
Deliver orders to production floor and expedite to various departments to meet customer demand.
Assist floor personnel with order fulfillment issues or questions.
Drive cost-cutting initiatives and lead time opportunities.
Facilitate feedback and communication with internal departments, service centers, and rep agencies.
Use various reports to track inventory and order volume to react proactively to order requirements.
Develop annual objectives aligned with departmental and company goals.
Report on all metrics associated with the Planning department.
Develop action plans, standard work, and countermeasures to support the metrics.
Participate in interviewing and hiring new staff, prioritize, assign and review work, approve time off for payroll purposes, and prepare employee performance evaluations.
Essential Skills
Two to three years of manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in assembly.
Ability to communicate in Spanish due to the bilingual workforce.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to communicate with all levels of a corporation.
Experience using tools like five whys and fishbone diagrams for problem-solving.
Basic lean manufacturing knowledge, including process mapping and problem-solving techniques.
Self-motivated, energetic, and comfortable spending significant time on the shop floor.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (manufacturing, mechanical, industrial) or related field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Background in engineering is a plus but not mandatory.
Project Management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects with little or no supervision.
Organized with high attention to detail.
Excellent people skills with the ability to maintain internal and external relationships.
Strong computer skills with strong working knowledge of MS Office applications and MRP systems.
Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience preferred.
Adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable with frequent changes.
Interest in leadership and career advancement, with the potential to grow into a value stream manager or higher roles.
Work Environment
Work hours start half an hour before the shift and end half an hour after, depending on overtime. Approximately 60% of time is spent on the shop floor in a bilingual workforce environment. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
