Job Title: Order Picker
Job Description
The Order Picker is a temporary role responsible for accurately selecting and preparing customer orders for shipment in a fast-paced warehouse and manufacturing environment. You ensure the correct products are picked, packed, labeled, and staged on time to support both production and customer delivery needs while following all safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Pick and pull customer orders using pick tickets, RF scanners, or system-generated lists with a high level of accuracy.
Identify and verify parts, quantities, and storage locations within the warehouse to ensure correct order fulfillment.
Package and label orders in accordance with shipping requirements and company standards.
Stage completed orders in the appropriate shipping or production areas to support on-time delivery and manufacturing schedules.
Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and stand-up or sit-down forklifts if certified and authorized.
Unload materials and products safely using pallet jacks or forklifts as needed.
Perform routine inventory checks, verify stock levels, and report any discrepancies or damaged products.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company safety procedures.
Follow all safety policies and standard operating procedures while working around production and assembly lines.
Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to meet daily order and production targets in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills
Experience picking orders in a warehouse, production, or manufacturing environment.
Ability to use RF scanners or similar handheld devices for order selection and inventory tracking.
Hands-on experience with pallet jacks and other basic material handling equipment.
Experience operating forklifts, including stand-up or sit-down models, or willingness to be trained.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate part identification, quantities, and locations.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing and assembly line environment.
Capability to follow safety procedures and company policies consistently.
Reliable attendance and ability to work a full shift, including up to 10-hour shifts as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Prior material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing experience preferred.
Approximately 2+ years of forklift experience preferred for higher-level forklift duties.
Willingness to obtain or maintain forklift certification if required.
Comfort working with shipping documentation, pick tickets, and system-generated order lists.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet production and shipping deadlines.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing and assembly line environment with a warehouse setting. The position is scheduled on 1st shift, typically 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the possibility of working up to a 10-hour shift depending on business needs. You work around production lines, storage racks, and shipping areas, using equipment such as RF scanners, pallet jacks, and stand-up or sit-down forklifts when trained and authorized. The environment is fast-paced and focused on safety, organization, and efficiency, with a practical dress code suitable for warehouse and manufacturing work, including appropriate footwear and any required personal protective equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Freeport, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $22.50/hr.
