Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer (Electronics)
Job Description
This Manufacturing Engineer role focuses on setting up new production lines, optimizing existing manufacturing processes, and driving continuous improvement across the production environment. You will evaluate and qualify manufacturing equipment, develop robust assembly fixtures and tooling, and lead design reviews to ensure new and existing products are highly manufacturable. The position plays a key role in improving safety, quality, and productivity while supporting innovative products that are used globally.
Responsibilities
Set up new production lines and ensure they meet performance, quality, and safety requirements.
Study existing manufacturing processes and recommend practical, data-driven improvements.
Evaluate equipment for use in manufacturing processes and ensure all documentation is completed for qualification of newly required equipment.
Oversee the development of precision, robust assembly fixtures and tooling for new product assembly in both proto@type and production phases.
Lead and actively participate in design review meetings to ensure manufacturability and process capability.
Collaborate with various departments to continuously improve both production floor processes and transactional processes.
Improve safety, quality, and productivity using ergonomics, time studies, procedural analysis, product design or redesign, and specification of tooling, fixturing, controls, and mechanization or automation.
Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement, waste removal, and cost reduction throughout the manufacturing operations.
Partner with other departments to improve production output and troubleshoot issues using root cause analysis (RCA).
Review new models introduced through new product introduction (NPI) for manufacturability and monitor pilot runs to ensure stable production.
Identify and develop process requirements for manufacturing new products and provide training to relevant teams.
Review and validate qualification plans, documentation, and new processes to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
Monitor the implementation of solutions to confirm they achieve the intended objectives and benefits.
Create, review, and revise control plans (CPs) within the department as needed.
Ensure engineering change notices (ECNs) are submitted for necessary corrections and improvements.
Prepare and present key performance indicators (KPIs) and other presentations for leadership as required.
Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and optimization in manufacturing.
Ensure issues are addressed at the root cause level and that corrective actions are implemented across all similar products and processes.
Coordinate the layout of production areas to ensure optimal utilization of equipment and space.
Facilitate the implementation of lean principles and lead or support continuous improvement events.
Apply design of experiments (DOE) techniques and establish standards and procedures to resolve complex manufacturing problems.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience with continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
Demonstrated experience participating in or leading design reviews.
Experience with evaluating and selecting manufacturing equipment.
Ability to develop and optimize production processes, including new line setup.
Strong skills in root cause analysis (RCA) and problem solving.
Ability to create, review, and revise control plans and process documentation.
Familiarity with ergonomics, time studies, and procedural analysis to improve safety and productivity.
Experience specifying tooling, fixturing, controls, and mechanization or automation solutions.
Ability to facilitate or support lean principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
Competence in applying design of experiments (DOE) techniques to resolve manufacturing issues.
Strong communication skills to lead design reviews, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and present KPIs to leadership.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, approximately 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will work in a manufacturing environment that includes production floors, equipment, and assembly areas, as well as collaboration spaces for cross-functional meetings and design reviews. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Miami, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $48.08/hr.
