(Part-Time) Grant Coordinator

PAY RATE: $25.50 - $39.00 per hour (up to 1500 hours per year).

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Chief of Planning & Development, this year-round, part time position is primarily responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations. The position will assemble and submit grant requests, establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with foundation and agency contacts, conduct prospect research, maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines and provide administrative follow-up for grants received.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general direction of the Chief of Planning & Development. Position works independently and exercises some judgment and discretion in completion of duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, persuasively communicating the organization's mission and programs to potential funders.

Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations.

Establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts and program officers.

Ensuring prompt acknowledgement of foundation gifts.

Monitors grant funds and prepares reports.

Maintaining calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports. Conducting prospect research.

Prioritizing projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, English, writing or similar field. Applicants with 8 or more years of related service will be given credit toward meeting the minimum educational requirements and will be considered for the position.

Demonstrated successful grant writing experience.

Possess excellent writing and computer skills (MS Office Suite) and database management skills.

Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes.

Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the CEO, staff officers, employees, foundations and outside agencies.

May be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs, including special events, evenings, weekends & holidays.

Ability to perform essential duties.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED: Personal computer including financial, accounting, payroll, data base, scheduling, publishing, spreadsheet, and word processing software; calculator, copy machines; phone and automobile.
