Summary The Program Analyst (Health Informatics) position is located at the medical centers within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The primary purpose of this role is to enhance the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care by integrating clinical and information processes essential for the successful adoption and use of new technologies throughout the VHA. Responsibilities Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Contributes to the development of products used for data-driven decision making and process improvement activities for the better provision of patient care by clinical and business staff. Develops reports and information tools using a variety of methods and tools such as Structured Query language (SQL), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) from the VA Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW). Uses Power BI and Power Apps to create highly functional user interfaces for data analytics products and provides training on these software applications. Participates on multi-disciplinary teams that aim to improve patient care, acting as the subject matter expert on developing informatics tools for staff use and facilitating end-user input. Collaborates with clinical staff to gain a functional understanding of clinical processes that allows for optimization of data analytics products. Uses communication, education, and leadership to support comprehension of and adaptation to strategic goals. Liaises with the Office of Information and Technology (OIT) to enable the sustainment and optimization of our health IT solutions and workflows, for the benefit of all staff and Veterans. Applies statistical (quantitative information derived mathematically), visualization (representation of data via a chart or other image), inferencing (a way to understand cause-and-effect relationships) and other techniques to enable decision support, with a future goal of incorporating machine learning (use of artificial intelligence to derive knowledge from data to predict outcomes). Participates in actions to evaluate, test, and report on errors found when working with systems and applications. Performs activities that support the management and delivery of educational experiences using information solutions and technology in all areas of healthcare. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond education beyond 2 full year of graduate level education (Transcripts required). GS-12 Grade Level Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-7 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Utilizing clinical software packages and applying a wide range of advance practices, theories and emerging information in health care delivery, health informatics and applications, providing expert and professional health informatics consulting services and training programs, using data to track and manage patient care, applying data life cycle to include data design, collection, and management in order to input, retrieve, analyze, summarize and present information.
