Job Title: 1st Shift Shipping Clerk / Warehouse Worker
Job Description
This role supports a busy distribution facility that manufactures automotive parts by performing shipping, receiving, and warehouse inventory activities on 1st shift. You will handle incoming and outgoing materials, pick and pack orders using RF scanners and rolling stairs, and work closely with warehouse leadership to ensure accurate and timely shipments in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Receive incoming materials, verify quantities, and restock inventory in designated warehouse locations.
Perform shipping and receiving functions, including preparing, labeling, and staging outbound orders.
Load and unload materials from trucks safely and efficiently using appropriate equipment and techniques.
Break down boxes and package items securely for shipment to ensure products arrive in good condition.
Use rolling stairs, order pickers, and RF scanners to locate, pick, and fulfill customer orders accurately.
Pick automotive parts from various shelving levels, including higher shelves accessed via rolling safety ladders ranging from approximately 7 to 15 steps.
Assist Warehouse Supervisors and team members as needed with daily operations and special projects.
Maintain organized warehouse inventory by placing items in correct locations and monitoring stock levels.
Operate pallet jacks and other material handling tools to move products throughout the facility.
Follow established procedures for shipping and receiving to ensure accuracy and timely processing of orders.
Keep work areas clean and orderly by breaking down boxes, disposing of packaging materials, and maintaining safe walkways.
Work both independently and as part of a team, managing tasks in a fast-paced environment while meeting productivity and quality expectations.
Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper use of rolling ladders, RF scanners, and material handling equipment.
Essential Skills
Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse or distribution environment.
Proficiency using RF scanners for order picking, inventory management, and shipping transactions.
Ability to perform order picking, packing, and packaging tasks accurately and efficiently.
Experience loading and unloading trucks and handling materials safely.
Ability to use pallet jacks and related material handling equipment.
Comfort working on rolling safety ladders with approximately 5-7 steps and occasional use of taller ladders up to about 15 feet.
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, sit, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods.
Capability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or squat as required by warehouse tasks.
Ability to speak, read, and write English to follow instructions, safety guidelines, and documentation.
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and staying self-motivated when working independently.
Willingness and flexibility to work 1st shift with early start times and mandatory overtime as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in a distribution center or automotive parts warehouse is beneficial.
Background in warehouse inventory control and order picking is an advantage.
Familiarity with shipping and receiving documentation and processes is helpful.
Interest in learning forklift operation, with the opportunity for training after being hired directly.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when picking, packing, and labeling orders.
Ability to follow safety procedures when using rolling stairs, RF scanners, and material handling equipment.

Work Environment
This is a 1st shift warehouse role in a busy distribution facility with a typically high noise level due to forklifts and other machinery operating throughout the building. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday with mandatory overtime of up to approximately two additional hours daily and occasional Saturdays. Start times are generally 5:30 AM or 6:30 AM, working until around 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM, and you must remain flexible with start and end times. The work involves frequent use of RF scanners, rolling safety ladders, and pallet jacks, as well as regular standing, walking, lifting, and reaching. Dress code requires a plain shirt with no logos related to alcohol, jeans without holes, and closed-toe shoes to support a safe and professional environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
