Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Research and Development (Aerospace & Defense)
Job Description
This role offers the opportunity to join a growing engineering and technology organization focused on advanced defense and aerospace programs. As an Electrical Engineer on the research and development team, you will design, integrate, and test complex electrical and electronic systems that support next-generation technologies. You will contribute across the full lifecycle, from concept and design through rapid prototyping, test, and validation, while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and test electrical and electronic systems for aerospace and defense applications.
Perform detailed electrical design activities, including cabling, wire harness, and cable assemblies.
Create and update electrical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD Electrical.
Conduct circuit design, schematic capture, and analysis to meet performance and reliability requirements.
Support integration of electrical and electronic hardware components into larger system architectures.
Contribute to electronics design and integration for complex systems, including communications-related hardware.
Develop and execute test plans to verify and validate electrical and electronic system performance.
Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis on hardware and system-level issues identified during testing.
Support rapid prototyping, test and evaluation activities to mature new technologies.
Review and incorporate redlines and design changes into electrical drawings and documentation.
Collaborate with systems, software, mechanical, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive system designs.
Support proto@type development and technology demonstrations for internal stakeholders and external customers.
Maintain accurate engineering documentation and ensure designs align with project requirements and standards.
Essential Skills
Professional experience in electrical engineering with a focus on design, development, and testing of electrical and electronic systems.
Hands-on experience with electrical design, including cabling, wire harness, and cable design.
Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical for creating and modifying electrical drawings and schematics.
Experience with circuit design, schematic capture, and electrical analysis.
Background in electronics design and integration for complex systems.
Experience in test and evaluation of electrical and electronic systems, including development of test plans and execution of validation activities.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply redlines and design changes to engineering documentation.
Familiarity with rapid prototyping of electrical and electronic hardware.
Experience with communications-related electrical and electronic systems.
Ability to obtain a security clearance, as required for work on defense-related programs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in the Department of Defense (DoD) industry or on defense-related programs is a plus.
Prior exposure to aerospace systems or advanced technology development environments is advantageous.
Experience with printed circuit board (PCB) design or support is beneficial.
Comfort working in multidisciplinary teams that include systems, software, and mechanical engineers.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and electronic issues.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for documenting designs and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Interest in long-term, multi-year programs with opportunities for contract-to-hire arrangements.
Work Environment
The position is based in a professional office environment within an engineering and technology organization. Work is performed primarily in an office setting, using standard engineering tools and software such as AutoCAD Electrical and other design and analysis applications. The role supports a hybrid work schedule with increased flexibility available with tenure, and is part of a multi-year program with potential option years and a contract-to-hire structure. The environment emphasizes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, participation in research and development activities, and involvement in proto@type development and technology demonstrations.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
