Job Title: 1st Shift Quality Assurance Analyst (Float Role)Job Description
This 1st shift Quality Assurance Analyst float role supports a bakery manufacturing environment by ensuring products consistently meet the highest quality and food safety standards. The analyst works a primary schedule of approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. within a 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. availability window and remains open to occasional weekend coverage when operational needs arise. The role focuses on maintaining compliance with GMP, SQF, HACCP, FDA, and state regulations through auditing, documentation, testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The analyst plays a key part in continuous improvement efforts and helps uphold a strong culture of food safety and quality throughout the facility.
Responsibilities
Ensure products meet established quality and food safety standards in alignment with industry regulations and internal policies.
Maintain and enforce compliance with GMP, SQF, HACCP, FDA, and applicable state regulations within a bakery manufacturing environment.
Conduct routine and targeted quality audits, including case audits, to verify adherence to quality and food safety procedures.
Verify Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for incoming materials and finished products to confirm they meet specified requirements.
Perform microbiological testing and related laboratory analyses to monitor product and environmental safety.
Carry out mock recalls and self-inspections to test and strengthen traceability, recall readiness, and overall food safety systems.
Monitor and verify critical control points (CCPs) and other key process parameters as defined by HACCP and food safety plans.
Review batch records and quality documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GMP and FDA expectations.
Support environmental monitoring activities to assess and maintain sanitary conditions in production and storage areas.
Document findings from inspections, audits, and testing, and ensure timely completion and maintenance of quality records.
Participate in root cause analysis for nonconformances and deviations, and help develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Collaborate closely with operations, sanitation, and maintenance teams to address quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Promote and reinforce a culture of excellence in quality and food safety throughout the facility.
Provide flexible coverage across quality functions as a float, supporting different areas and tasks as operational needs require.
Be available for occasional overtime and weekend work to support audits, food safety emergencies, or other critical quality activities.
Essential Skills
1-5 years of experience combined with a degree in the sciences, or 5+ years of experience in quality within a GMP/FDA-regulated facility.
Hands-on experience in quality assurance and quality control within a manufacturing or food production environment.
Working knowledge of GMP requirements and their application in daily production and quality activities.
Experience conducting inspections and quality analyses on products, processes, and documentation.
Proficiency with HACCP principles, including identification and verification of critical control points.
Familiarity with SQF or similar food safety and quality management systems.
Understanding of FDA and state regulatory requirements relevant to food manufacturing.
Laboratory skills related to microbiological testing and basic biology concepts.
Experience with quality documentation, including batch record review and maintenance of quality records.
Ability to perform environmental monitoring activities in a production environment.
Competence in root cause analysis to investigate quality issues and support corrective and preventive actions.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in auditing, testing, and documentation.
Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, sanitation, maintenance, and other cross-functional teams.
Willingness and ability to work 1st shift with availability between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and to support occasional weekend coverage.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Degree in a scientific discipline such as biology or a related field.
Experience working in a bakery or broader food manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with food safety programs and protocols, including HACCP and environmental monitoring programs.
Exposure to SQF certification processes or other third-party food safety audits.
Experience supporting or participating in mock recalls and self-inspections.
Comfort working in a laboratory setting as well as on the production floor.
Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement initiatives in quality and food safety.
Work Environment
This role operates on 1st shift in a bakery manufacturing environment. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with core hours around 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and usual working hours approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., within an overall availability window of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required, particularly during audits or in response to food safety emergencies, and the position requires flexibility to support these needs. The work takes place both on the production floor and in a laboratory setting, involving interaction with production, sanitation, and maintenance teams and adherence to food safety and GMP practices appropriate for a bakery manufacturing facility.

The pay range for this position is $68000.00 - $83000.00/yr.
These are direct placement roles. benefits will be provided upon start of assignment or earlier if requested by candidate.
