The Electrical Engineer defines functional and performance requirements, coordinates system-level design and schematics, and ensures seamless integration of electronics, software, and mechanical components. The position evaluates which capabilities to develop in-house versus through external partners and leads those partnerships to successful outcomes. The engineer manages both internal and external resources, applies strong product and project management skills, and keeps projects on schedule to enable successful product development and launch.
Responsibilities
Define functional, performance, and control requirements for complex electromechanical systems.
Translate system behavior into clear engineering specifications and control strategies.
Design, tune, and validate control algorithms for advanced electromechanical products.
Integrate sensors, actuators, and communication protocols into control systems.
Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to ensure cohesive system design.
Support production launch and manufacturing readiness by addressing technical and integration issues.
Develop and review test plans, drawings, and documentation to support system validation and updates.
Support firmware updates and troubleshoot existing and legacy products as needed.
Lead troubleshooting efforts and provide after-sales technical support for deployed products.
Identify, evaluate, and manage external partners and vendors to support development efforts.
Manage timelines, priorities, and cross-functional coordination to ensure successful product delivery.
Balance in-house development with outsourced work by assessing capabilities, risks, and project needs.
Document design decisions, test results, and system performance to support continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
Hands-on experience working with complex electromechanical systems, including understanding system behavior and component interaction.
Experience defining system-level requirements and translating them into control logic or software specifications.

Exposure to product development environments involving external vendors or partners.
Experience working in regulated or highly engineered product environments.
Prior experience contributing to product launches or manufacturing ramp-ups.
Experience providing technical support to customers or field teams.
Familiarity with marine or similar applications where complex electromechanical systems operate in demanding environments.
Work Environment
The role operates primarily in a cubicle and office environment within or adjacent to a large manufacturing facility, with most time spent in the office. The engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams and may periodically visit the manufacturing floor to support production readiness, testing, or troubleshooting activities. The position may involve occasional travel to vessels such as yachts to meet with captains or crew when significant issues arise, providing on-site technical support and system diagnostics.
