Engineer I
Job Description
The Engineer I supports power-related engineering projects by applying established engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications. This role works closely with internal departments, contractors, and field teams to help deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality engineering solutions across the full lifecycle of power assets.
Responsibilities
Apply engineering processes, design criteria, and standard practices to support the design and construction of power-related systems.
Assist in developing design options, preparing construction specifications, and maintaining accurate project documentation.
Support preparation of project estimates, including material takeoffs and cost estimates for engineering projects.
Provide oversight, guidance, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages.
Promote a strong safety culture by consistently prioritizing safety and supporting the creation of a safe work environment.
Develop working knowledge of the full lifecycle of assets, including planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance.
Build an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance activities.
Learn and apply company design practices, work processes, and applicable industry and internal design standards.
Utilize required engineering and design software tools to support project execution and documentation.
Support the development and maintenance of design standards and engineering criteria.
Assist construction and maintenance teams with day-to-day operational support as needed.
Prepare and transmit complete construction packages and supporting specifications to field teams and contractors.
Collaborate effectively with plant staff, engineering teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
Contribute to budget preparation activities and support contractor oversight as part of project delivery.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
0-5 years of related engineering experience in a relevant discipline such as mechanical, electrical, or process engineering.
Introductory engineering knowledge with the ability to apply established procedures and standards under guidance.
Basic problem-solving skills and the ability to make limited independent decisions within defined procedures, with review by a supervisor.
Familiarity with discipline-specific engineering and design software tools.
Ability to read and work with P&ID and electrical drawings at a basic level.
Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a demonstrated willingness to learn.
Ability to build effective working relationships with plant staff, engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to support budget preparation and contractor oversight activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Exposure to power generation, heavy industrial, or similar engineering environments.
Experience performing field walkdowns and marking up mechanical or electrical drawings.
CAD experience, such as AutoCAD or similar tools, in an engineering or industrial setting.
Experience supporting the development of construction specifications and project documentation.
Familiarity with cost estimation practices for engineering projects.
Demonstrated commitment to safety in industrial or power plant environments.
Work Environment
This position is based onsite at a power plant in Rincon, Georgia. The role operates in an active power generation facility, working closely with plant operations, maintenance personnel, contractors, and engineering teams.
Work is primarily performed within plant facilities and office areas, with regular exposure to industrial equipment, operating systems, and field conditions during walkdowns and construction support activities.
The environment emphasizes safety, collaboration, and adherence to established engineering and operational standards, with access to engineering and design software, CAD tools, and standard office technology.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
