You will work with specialized equipment to ensure instruments used in medical procedures are thoroughly cleaned, inspected, and prepared for reuse, following strict quality and cleanliness standards.
Responsibilities
Refurbish surgical instruments through a structured cleaning and sorting process, ensuring all items meet quality and cleanliness standards.
Handle surgical instruments ranging from approximately 10 to 30 inches in length with care and attention to detail.
Move cases of instruments through a metal detector before the cleaning process begins, following established procedures.
Gown up in full clean room gear at the start of each shift and follow all clean room protocols throughout the day.
Lift and move bins of instruments, occasionally up to 50 pounds, into a dishwasher-style cleaning unit, using proper lifting techniques.
Perform manual cleaning, sorting, and power washing of surgical instruments, including chemical cleaning steps as required.
Work with instruments that may have visible biological material such as blood or feces and follow all safety and hygiene procedures.
Label cleaned instruments accurately and sort them into the appropriate bins or storage locations.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area by sweeping daily and participating in mopping duties twice per week as part of an all-hands effort.
Follow all safety, quality, and cleanliness procedures to support a high-quality production environment.
Participate in cross-training to learn additional core competencies beyond the primary role to support operational flexibility and career growth.
Adhere to attendance expectations, including no time off during the first 30 days of employment and being available for scheduled overtime, including some Saturdays.
Essential Skills
Ability and willingness to work in a clean room environment while fully gowned in required protective gear.
Comfort working with surgical instruments that may have biological material present prior to cleaning.
Capability to stand for the entire shift, with comfort mats provided for support.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis using safe lifting practices.
Strong quality mindset with attention to detail in cleaning, sorting, and labeling tasks.
Reliability and commitment to consistent attendance, including no days off during the first 30 days when scheduled.
Willingness to learn and follow detailed procedures and safety protocols.
Openness to cross-training and learning multiple core competencies to support different areas of the operation.
Ability to work without facial piercings, nail polish, fake nails, and makeup, in accordance with clean room and safety requirements.
